For good ol HK cha chan ting breakfast, I like Tsui Wah. You can find it everywhere so could be a gd bf place before you leave. Just google it to see if there is one near your hotel. Disneyland hotel's Chinese restaurant have gd Disney shaped Tim sum.

Let me share with you my Disney savings tip. We did it in 2010. Not sure if it still works.

We went during a value season. Bought an annual pass for one child. The rest had the buy one day play 2 days promo. The cost of the annual pass is slightly more than the one day ticket, but it comes with room discount at Disney hotels. The room discount was more than the extra amount we paid for the pass. With annual pass, we get discount at Disney restaurants and shopping too. I remember that I got my sons to bring their student pass. The Disney reservation told me she could give them child price ticket with student pass even though my oldest boy was already 13. Go to the Disney website to check the annual pass prices and room rates and do your math. It is worth the trouble. :). Remember child annual pass is cheaper than adult so get the child one. One annual pass for the whole group is gd enough. Check out the Disney website for promo meal packages too. Also if you want to do a character meal, the seasonal one at Disney Hollywood hotel is cheaper then the regular ones at Disneyland hotel. Not sure if they'll have it when you are there. At Disneyland hotel, breakfast cheaper than dinner. There are also promos and coupons for annual pass holders sometimes.

We went in June which is low season so there was lots of promo available

You must try taking the tram when you are in the Central area. To experience more of their public transport, take the Star Ferry fr TST to Central, then take the public tram (only HK2 per person) to somewhere near Bank of China where you can line up for tickets up Victoria’s Peak. We waited more than an hour just to get the tickets to Victoria’s Peak on a Saturday afternoon…


Alternatively, when you are done with shopping at Central and visiting Victoria’s Peak, take the public tram to Causeway Bay where there’s lots of shopping as well. Be warned that the trams can be crowded with many foreign domestic workers on Sat and Sundays. hehehe… but it’s fun

When we were there, we took cabs only because it was cheaper or about the same to take cabs for 5 people than to take MTR. Same as cabs to hotel. Also as DD was only 3+ then, I wanted to save her energy for the actual shopping and touring

Can any parent share with us whether Lantau Island is suitable for family with young children? I am planning to go HK in Nov with my 2 kids (4yr & 6yr).

Has anyone been there with little kids in tow? Is the place stroller-friendly? Where do I go to catch the skyrail? Where would be a decent place for the kids to have lunch? Is it possible to include Cheung Chau Island on the same day as well?

We went when our girl was 3. She enjoyed the cable car ride. We paid extra for the crystal cable car. We had lunch at a Chinese restaurant there. No problem finding food at all.

yup. try to reach there(lantau island) at opening time 10am. otherwise long queue for you to take the cable car. stroller is ok. just came back a few days ago. just dun expect to climb the Buddha stairs with it. :xedfingers:

i personally feel that lantau is more stroller friendly than kowloon or HK.

we had lunch at Lantau garden restaurant, one of those with 2 storeys. had their goose and duck combi, so so lor. nothing much. their veg is badly cooked. their egg is oily. so avoid if possible but sometimes with kids, we are limited.

I always received feedback that the queue for rides at Disneyland is really long. Any comments? Is there any local holiday in October?

For those with kids, i advise taking cabs...but the cab drivers alot duno those places that we wanted to go (aka TIM HO WAN) but you can just give them the road name and they should know.

by taking cab, you can avoid finding the wide gantry in MTR meant for strollers, you can avoid stairs, you can avoid squeezing. PLUS no peak hr charge or cbd charge or ERP charge in HK cabs. so overall, will be cheaper than SG cabs.

The food still consider reasonable like noodles & macaroni & also free access of internet. Take time to explore the hotel, a playground (the scenery around is nice & the air is fresh too), a swimming pool,a souvenir shop & TV showing cartoon at the lobby too.

Must try milk tea at HK cha chan ting. Those milk tea here cannot fight.

Almost every shop and char chan teng sells roasted goose but the best is still at Yung Kee (really ex though). I ate a roasted goose drumstick almost every evening when I was there but the large amount of fat hanging off the leg was enough to gross me out on my 3rd attempt. hahaha

My personal fave char chan teng is Hing Fat Restaurant located along Ashley Road (near Yue Hwa) in TST. Cleaner and better looking than most other shops and good service. My hubby liked their club sandwich (nice presentation), I liked their dimsum and the kids liked their western fare. Good variety of food.

Yup, I bought from the MTR station shop located in the underground walkway towards the OP bus station at Admiralty.

Remember to keep the OP tickets in your wallet! Can get 10% discount at Kee Wah cakes at the airport branch. I left my OP tickets in the check-in luggage and couldn't get the discount... hehehe
