Hi,verykiasumummy:
hi MMM,
great to hear ur advice... do u happen to know if agnes b is cheap there?
i'm staying in lotte hotel, is it near the lotte supermarket that u went?
Not sure about agnes b.
Is this lotte hotel in myeong dong? If so, I think it's near the duty free. Actually I was thinking if it is the same building as the duty free. You might like to find out more.
If this is the hotel i mentioned, it is not near the lotte supermarket. Gosh... I think I am getting old. The lotte supermarket is near some central train station. But it's not far from lotte hotel as in few stations away.
We did a lot of walking in Seoul. We actually walked from dongdaemun to myeong dong and then to our hotel at Fraser Place. We saw it as a way to explore Seoul. So we actually lost weight from all the walking in Seoul.... good exercise.
My dh prefers walking to train.... Recently in NY, we walked at least 60+ streets (from our hotel in times square to ground zero). He will make us walk long distance every day. Till a point that dd and I wanted to surrender....
MMM
walking is the best way to explore the city

yes, cx is much cheaper but hubby prefers direct flight. i'm taking asiana coz sq promo is not applicable for our return date. moreover asiana is no.2 airline of the year so try lor, cant be that bad
i'm not going jeju, will save that for my next trip. really no time though 9 days seem quite long but i cant squeeze in. 3 days is good enough, u plan to self drive or hire a guide there? -
we plan to hire a guide at jeju… already liaising so hopefully will settle that soon… our first time there so we cant do things that are too adventurous…
my husband wants to try zipwire to nami, but afraid that my dd might not, so i’ll be taking ferry with her… do u happen to know the minimum age for zipwire?? -

Just make sure you bring a pair of good walking shoes.hi MMM,
thks for your advice... walking is really a good way to explore the country, and since i'm also taking free and easy, i'll definitely do that...
The last time round we spent 6-7 days in Seoul. We visited those palaces, insadong, namdaemun, dongdaemun, etc... We tried to take a train to visit the da chang jin film site but got lost so we gave up. Went to some \"factory outlet\" instead but it was disappointing... (nothing like US/ Japan standard).
We just experienced Seoul and took it easy. Enjoyed their spicy maggie like noodles near our hotel.... dh also found his beloved zha jiang mian right behind our fraser place serviced apartment....
Language was a barrier so we ordered by pointing to what other people are eating. We also ate at those eatery in dongdaemum (places they used for filming). We went to Myeong dong quite often too especially in the evening when the 'pasar malam\" and food stalls are out. I was however disappointed with the korean bbq we had. it was different from Spore/ Shanghai style in terms of the way they marinate the meat...
In the end, we didn't cover nami island. FYI, the hotel will also have local tours package that you can consider when you are there.
Just enjoy and take it easy. -

hi MMM,
language is still a barrier now? oh my, i dun actually watch korean drama so i may not be familiar with those places that were used for filming... all i rmb was nami island where the first few korean drama were screened...
myeongdong will definitely be 1 of my fav places to visit as well... i love shopping so much... i heard from some gals that they need days to cover the whole myeongdong...!! -
mummychia:
taking ferry is safer... i dun feel safe even by looking at the zipwire video... that is too dangerous... i may think twice even if my dd wants to go on that...
actually i plan to self drive in jeju
