A green bean that can germinate when conditions are favorable is living but a cooked green bean is non-living.

DS said if this question appears in section A, his answer will be that it is a living thing.

But, if this appears in section B, he would explain the living and non-living aspects of the green bean. (e.g. seed leaves and seed coat are non-living but the plant cells residing inside the bean are living, thus the bean can grow into a plant)

            P.S.
DS said that all living things can be distinguished by the following characteristics:

-Living things need air, food and water to survive
            -Living things will die
            -Living things can reproduce
            -Living things can grow
-Living things can move about freely on their own

Seed leaves and seed coat are part of a living system.

In fact, a green bean is a seed. A seed is part of a living reproductive system.

How is the question been asked? Does it comes with a picture? If u can provide this 2 information, u can get a definite answer from the rest.

as far as i understand from my ds's teacher, many answers are now double possibility..

                  that is:
yes the green bean is a living thing as it will be able to germinate with the right conditions (air, water, warmth) given.

no the green bean is not a living thing if it has been cooked or boiled as it can no longer germinate to grow into a seedling even when the right conditions are given.

                  hope this helps..

                    Clairifina:

Why does an e-z link card not work when it is placed in a wallet with a magnet?

the card will not be scanned as the magnet interrupts the machine that scans or it may also be becuz of the reason that the card is attracted to the magnet. anyway it is a fact to prevent keeping magnets near electronics such as mobilephones etc. so i guess that it is bcos of blocking the fieldwaves to scan the card.

                    Hi Robbertpattinsonidle,
                    I am back .
The part where you mentioned that magnet interrupts the machine, that is where you did not explain in science terms.
                    Here is a alternate answer:
The card will not be scanned as the magnet would affect the information stored in the ez-link card. Thus, the machine would not be able to scan the card since the information in the card is lost.
                    Cheers

                      http://t.co/q9WybVC6

                      Is the answer 2?
The option where it stated that the ruler was other way round is the answer.
                      Cheers

                        Hi
Yeast is grouped under fungi and micro organism. It depends on the question that is asking for.
                        Cheers
