Improve the handwriting
-
My boys (P1 & P5) handwriting are terrible. My girl’s ok (P1). I have tried ways to improve my P5 boy’s handwriting but no avail.
Do you have any ways or ideas that can help them improve their handwriting?
Do you think getting them to attend calligraphy class will help? -
Mine also, I made them redo if their writing was too bad when they were younger. Now still messy but at least legible.

Better to find out the reason for poor handwriting. Wrong or poor grip? Tense muscles - back, shoulder, arms, fingers, etc? Eye-hand co-ordination? Poor posture?
Once you tackle the root cause, it’ll be easier to improve, and less frustrating for the child as well. -
mummy of three:
my tutor gave them penmanship
Mummy if three - Can you please share what sort of penmanship activities ar? -
I recommend Penny Gardner's e-book http://www.pennygardner.com/italicsbk.html, or the book called http://www.handwritingsuccess.com/write-now.php by Barbara Getty and Inga Dubay (available at the library).
