      Hi 2818,

My son is also in 1G next year. It’s so nice to hear that your child is also in class 1G.

        hi MMM,

btw, are there any pools in the sch? or any cca on swimming?

        MMM:
For P1, they will be stream based on their chinese results after SA1. They will be stream again after their P1 SA2 results. Basically kids will stay in the same class until P2 but during chinese lessons, they will go to their respective CL class. A typical example is that those in \"stronger\" class may have more than 30 pupils. I heard from my P2 girl that she had close to 40 in her class. Meanwhile for those who are weak in the subject, they will probably have 20 + pupils so that the teacher can pay more attention to the weaker students.

On the other hand, note that those in \"stronger\" class will typically be given more difficult tingxie list or will be expose more due to their ability. At the end of the day, all kids will sit for the same paper.

Then from P2 to P3, they will be stream again based on overall results. There is only 1 best class in P3. The rest will be a mix of children of different abilities.

The color house remain the same throughout.

Hi, I am a newbie. I need advice for science & maths tuition for my girl (P4 next year), she scored 19/20 for her problem sums but had a lot of careless mistakes in Sect A & B so she only got B3 in the end. As for Science, she had a B3 too. I think MB set quite a tough paper for them this year. So, should I go for enrichment class like MindMax or MPM maths, mindstretcher, etc. for her Maths? As for science, i am opting for Formation as Chancery Court.

            Hi,

There are no pool in the school. This year, all P2 had compulsory swimming lessons and I think they went to Kallang public pool.

For this year, yes it is actually during PE lessons.

The lesson is supposed to teach them how to swim. But I think it’s only for 1 term??? Jsmum can you comment?

I recall the school soliciting for parents volunteer for this activity as well, extra pair of eyes.

                  Hi jennykhots,

Welcome to KSP. Unfortunately over here, we don't seem to have alot of upper primary MBS parents contributing to the forum. You might want to look at those section that discuss specifically on maths/ science lessons for upper primary. That might be more helpful.

But pls share your experience with us.

                      Hi,

There are 8 lessons altogether. No problem if your kids cannot swim. The instructor will separate out the kids who cannot swim. Both my kids do not know how to swim too. If I remember correctly, I paid $10. Transportation and a swimming cap included. After swimming lesson, the kids will wipe dry, go back school for lesson. That is why they need to wear swimming cap.

Unfortunately swimming is not one of the MBS cca. The swimming school do welcome kids to continue learning swimming from them after the 8 lessons.

Actually, I find after 8 lessons my kids still do not know how to swim. At least they are more confident to kick water and float. Further lessons will definately be needed.
