Eye Level Education Centre (aka Enopi) - Discussion

They will only return the basic maths portion for correction and not critical thinking potion.

Hi mummies,
What about the english component of enopi? Is the structure of the lesson similar to kumon? What are your comments as compared to kumon for english?
Thanks!

Hi,
Sorry… I am just not for Kumon/ Enopi for English. I feel that their core competence is in maths and not language. So what if they can produce worksheets that target at language learning? To me, language learning is not just worksheet, it’s an exposure and experience such as speaking, listening, etc… it’s beyond worksheets. Similarly, I also wonder why people send their kids for Kumon chinese??? Probably out of convenience but I feel that there are better centres/ experts out there for languages. JMO -
i've seen how a boy as young as five or six reading chinese passages (without the hanyu pinyin) with ease. i dun see him struggle coming to the kumon chinese class. instead he seems to enjoy his time in the centre.
i agree on the convenience - so tempted to add in the kunon chinese together with the math. but my dd refuse to go for the class even when it hasn't even start!
we can only guess that her first impression of the chinese teacher during the assessment was not great. -
anyway i’ve gone thru the enopi website and find the basic math portion quite similar to kumon while the critical thinking (at the lower level) looks like assessment books. so wil stick to kumon for the time being until such time that my dd screams no more! :!:

My ds had been with Enopi since he was 4.5 yrs and this in P1, he is progressing faster than his peers as thanks to Enopi as this programm allows self learning of the kid at their own comfortable pace. The teacher do teaches, they teaches concept and make sure that the students understand and apply accordingly. They do provide revision for some of the tougher topics unlike Kumon nor MPM doesn't. What I like abt the program was the Critical thinking which is heuristic learning which is gaining its popoularity in school. They teaches layer hierarchical structure unlike MPM which is spiral. So far my ds gain a lot from the program and it provides him with a strong confidence headstart to P1

Yes, I agree. I started my K1 beginning of this year. I hope that by the time she goes to P1, she is \"invincible\" Just kidding. So far she has been pretty motivated to complete her worksheets. The worksheets also helps to train her on her writing skills.
My older kids are in the program and yes, they are ahead in terms of their learning but need revision since they cover some topics much earlier. -

hi june
thanks for sharing the glowing testimony! but can u explain what is enopi's hierarchical structure vs MPM's spiral structure? -
Hi parents,
At 1st, i will like to enrol my DD in MPM but now i change my mind to e.nopi as i found that the critical thinking is very useful to them like June had said. Anybody in Jurong east branch? -
foreverj: Basically the layer hierarchical structure means that the child learn addition, subtraction, multiplication and division whereas MPM spiral means u learn all at the same time which might causes some confusion i feel as when they are older, they need to know the order of operations eg: which one to do first.
