Working parents, how do you help your child with homework?

i must hv 1 weekend free for them in my case... either sat or sun... all other tuition or enrichment should be shifted to the other weekend so as 1 day must be kept free...

though a little harder to do, i just hv to put my foot down if the particular centre or tutor cannot accomodate my timing... forgo them... kids learn daily, so 1 day of rest ot u can say \"mind detox\" is essential..

I will make sure my DD finishes her school/enrichment homework before I come home. Of course, there will be a lapse every now and then. Either Saturday or Sunday, we will spend at least 3 to 4 hours to patch the gaps. During exam times, I will sit with her on both Saturdays and Sundays. No choice.

However, we dont need to give them a full day of rest every weekend (especially when they are free in most of the morning or afternoon sessions (depending on the school session) at home). Do I sound evil?

my kids attend student care… so i can say they are not free… haha…

My kids will usually complete their hw (rather minimum), tution work or work that I tasked them to do at home depending on their schedule. Thank god, they are rather obedient and most of the time, they completed. So after work and dinner, I will mark their stuff and go through with them their mistakes and go through spelling or see if have time to squeeze some revision. P1 DS followed by P3 DD. My P1 ds has lesser stuff to do. So he will zoom off to read or play with my 3yo once he can be let off.


My 3yo will patiently wait till 10 for his story time. Quite sad cos i really have not much time. As a result, my youngest one tends to sleep very late at about 11pm or so.

Tution and piano usually on weekdays. I have a trusty helper that will bring them around for these activities. Weekend, they have snippets of enrichment. So depending on schedule, we then plan activities on weekend. So the kids do get their fair share of fun.

dun ur dh help out?

my dh used to push everything to me previously when one day i burst and scolded him!! they r our kids, not mine alone... storytelling should be left to the daddys since they are more than qualified to read n tell...

i also hv 3 kids like u… glad to say… they are now independent n dun need me to tell stories but we still discuss some news with them to get them involved with wat’s happening in the whole…

My dh does read to my 3yo but not sure if it's habitual or, he still needs me to read to him before he sleep. haiyo... he should brush up on his reading skills to share ur load..

my dh also says he is not doing it better than me but i always classfied them as excuses... so he has to abide.. haha..

3yo cant sleep too late, will become a habit n not gd for health...
