That is useful info. I will wait on Orientation day to find out what time school bus is fetching before I decide 1 way or 2 ways.

        Hi all,

Am back from \"land of thousand smiles\" and recharged for the final hurdle - SA2. πŸ˜‚

Rejoice, great to hear that the roller-blading was a great bonding time for you and your boyz. Hopefully, they will re-run the program in December.

Agreed with Rejoice sharing on car-q, especially, on raining days. Most of the staff - Principal, VP, teachers and the helpes will be around to Q-control and so far, traffic has been a breeze.

Rejoice - when i read your comments about the teacher saying the child was tired, it strike a chord as i had the same comment from the MT teacher..haha. Guess not only do we, parents, feel the strain. The teachers are also sharing the same pain with us. So normal release time will be best for all. Looking forward to the new school hours in 2013! πŸ˜‰

        regards,
        Astee

          Hi Astee,

Welcome back :-). Hehe. You actually read through all the posts after coming back :-)! Good to have you back to share your advice.

Today is official the last day of term 3 holiday. Back to busy school time for term four next Monday. Good thing is that it is only another two months before school is over again. Hehe. Has to keep looking forward to holiday to keep us going :-p.

Yes looking forward to new school hour next year. Though it is a tough year, i am glad that the school is open to change and also willing to listen and evaluate the change. I think we are going to see more changes in the school and should feel confident that the school will continue to evolve and adapt to make it better for the kids.

            Dear all,

Attended a very informative Breakfast Talk with P1/2 Parents yesterday morning in the school. The 2 hours session proved to be valuable and it was a 2 ways communication (Parents-school) and vice versa.

A few good pointers that most of the parents had concerns were voiced out, just to share with all of you:

            1. School hours - looks like this is the TOP Concerns of all the parents. Principal/VP reiterated that they are looking into the issue and working out the new timing with the school teachers. We should get the notice soon.

            2. School Bus - parents voiced about the new vendor services. VP shared with our table regarding the school pains in getting the right vendor for the services as there are very limited school bus vendors and with new change in school hours, it will also affect the vendor schedules. So they have to plan and co-ordinate the logistics very carefully.

            3. CCA/Enrichment programs - Parents had suggested to spread out the CCAs and Enrichment programs schedule rather than cramped them all in one term, which is usually term 4, as the long hours are very taxing to the children.

            4. Student Care Services - an important point was brought across to parents. The pilot program of the in-house student care services is mainly focus on those needies children whom has no one at home after school. The school hope to work with the SCC to help these children in their academics and also provide them a safe environment rather than them roaming around aimlessly. So parents whom are hoping to get a place for their child in the SCC has to ensure they qualify for the program. Once the SCC is ready, i believe the T&C will be provided.

School also shared with parents on the latest MOE Workplan seminar which was helmed by Education Minister Heng Swee Keat and some of his annoucement which highlighted the importance of parents as stakeholders... πŸ˜‰

Minister also launched the Parents in Education (PiE) website at the Workplan Seminar. http://parents-in-education.moe.gov.sg/

Happy readings and hope you will find useful information.

            Regards,
            Astee

              Hi Astee,

:thankyou: for the useful information. I was not able to attend the talk due to work schedule :-(. Thanks for sharing with us. Looks like the concerns brought up are all close to our hearts. Hope to hear from the school soon on the progress.

SA2 is approaching soon. DS brought back notice regarding this term's schedule. Somehow it was listed that for P2 students, instead I'd SA2, they will have year end exam and it lasts the whole month of October! Do you know what is the different? I sure hope DS don't have to be in exam mode forthe whole month.

                Hi Rejoice,

You are welcome, i guess you would have done the same if you had attended the talk and shared the nugget with all the parents here. πŸ˜„

Yes, the schedule showed the whole month of October but indicated that more information will be provided pertaining to the P1/2 SA2 schedules. I am assuming it will be the same as previous years. Likely to take place end of Oct and early November. So the few days of school closure for PSLE marking days are final countdown and revision time. πŸ˜‰

It's good to be operational ready mode all the time, so we just pretend that Oct is SA2 time, same as GSS time...ready to \"chiong\" anytime and anywhere.

All the best to your DS preparation for upcoming SA2 and mommy, remember to breath...haha. :xedfingers:

                cheers,
                astee

                  Hi Astee,

The exams are just 1 week away from today...sigh...and DS class has yet to start the last topic for Mathematics - Volumn. I don't understand, I felt that they are quite slack during the first 3 terms, now really chionging. Will they skip the topic totally? :?

                    Hi Ivy,

The one week away papers are Papers 1 for English and MT, right? My DS happily left his exam schedule in school and i have yet to see his time-table. So i am using my girl's as guideline. If following the higher primary guide, the Math paper should be around 4th week of October, so teacher would still have some time to teach the module. I just checked with DS and he said Volumn was covered a few days ago? Not sure if my DS got it right, you can check with their FT.

Also there are many days of school closure in October, so we can use it on revision. In case the topic was covered too quickly for the kid to digest. πŸ˜„

                    Good Luck to all kiddos.

                    regards,
                    astee
