Why does an e-z link card not work when it is placed in a wallet with a magnet?

the card will not be scanned as the magnet interrupts the machine that scans or it may also be becuz of the reason that the card is attracted to the magnet. anyway it is a fact to prevent keeping magnets near electronics such as mobilephones etc. so i guess that it is bcos of blocking the fieldwaves to scan the card.

Hi Robbertpattinsonidle,
I am back .
The part where you mentioned that magnet interrupts the machine, that is where you did not explain in science terms.
Here is a alternate answer:
The card will not be scanned as the magnet would affect the information stored in the ez-link card. Thus, the machine would not be able to scan the card since the information in the card is lost.
Cheers
there is another ans though..

the card cannot be detected by the scanning machine as magnetism cannot pass through magnetic materials and the magnet is a magnetic material.

Hi

You cannot say that as the concept tested in this question is the consequences when magnet is placed beside the ezlink card. The magnet could have been placed behind the barcode.
Cheers

Hi
This question is a straight forward question. The aim is,to find whether if Material A is a conductor of electricity.Hence,it does not tests on material B.
Therefore, you should choose the circuit which has only material A.
Cheers

hi paranoid,

the answer is direct. option 1

circuit should hv only object A if wanna test if A is conductor of electricity or not.

hmm, ya maybe... if it were to ask for possible reasons, mine will then be correct...

My answer key says 2... but I suppose I'm correct then.
Thanks. 🙂

Thanks. :)
actually option 2 is the correct one. (after second thoughts)

using only object A does not mean B is conductor. (cos B may also be insulator) so should be option B, if bulb lights up, it proves A to be insulator and B to be conductor..

Hi paranoid,

The aim of the experiment is to find out if material A is a conductor of electricity. Thus, need not have to think of material B.
cheers.

sorry for my typo, i mean option 2 should be the answer since using only object B will be able to tell B is conductor and A is insulator…
