        Hi,

        Need help on these question:

        1) Chris and Diane have some carnival tickets. If Chris sells 10 tickets per day and Diane sells 5 tickets per day. Chris will have 40 tickets left when Diane has sold all her tickets. If Chris sells 5 tickets per day and Diane sells 10 tickets per day, Chris will have 70 tickets left when Diane has sold all her tickets.
        a) How many tickets does Chris have?
        b) If each ticket is sold for $20, how much money can be collected from the sale of all their tickets?

        For (a), I am trying to use algebra, but could not figure out after having the days as \"x\"

        10x+40=5x
        5x+70=10x.....is this correct?

        Thanks in advance

        hope this helps..

            http://i49.tinypic.com/16p0f7.jpg\"> Hi, Pls help on this question!!!!

            Remainder --> 11 units
            Original amount of money --> 11 units + $1155

            Amount left = 11 units - 2 units - $175 = 9 units - $ 175
            Amount left = 1/11 original amount --> 1 unit + $105
            9 units - $175 = 1 unit + $ 105
            1 unit --> $ 35

            Amount spent on bag --> $70
            original amount of money --> 11 x $35 + $1155 = $1540
            ... can you work out the solution from here ?

            cheers.

              Please help me in some questions. Thanks in advance!!!

              1. A box contains 40 similar writing pads. The total mass of box with 3/5 of its contents is 0.88kg lighter than the box with all its contents. The mass of each writing pad is 4/5 times the mass of the box. Find the total mass of the box of writing pads. Give your answer in grams.

              2. A train, 135m long travels at a constant speed of 15m/s. The train entered a tunnel which 4365m long at 12pm. Point B is the end of the tunnel.
              (a) What time will it be for the entire train pass through the tunnel?
              (b)What is the distance from point B to the next station if the train reaches the next station at 12.12pm.
              Hi

              (1)

              3/5 of 40 -------- 24

              16 writing pads ------- 880g

              1 writing pad ------ 55g

              Mass of box ------ 68.75g

              The total mass of the box of writing pads -------- 68.75 + 40(55) ------- 2268.75g

              (2)

              Time taken to pass through tunnel ------- 4365+135/15 -------- 300s (5min)

              Train passed through [email protected]

              In 7min, the train covered 7*60*15 -------- 6300m

              Distance from B to the next station(rear end of train@platform) ------ 6300m.

              Best wishes.

                If it's 1/5 mark, I'd go for 1/8.

                      Please help with the following question:

                      A car was travelling from Town P to Town Q.

                      After completing 2/7 of the journey in 1/2 hour, the car passed a van travelling at a constant speed of 70km/h in the same direction.
                      3 hours later, the car reached Town Q but the van was still 65 km away from Town Q.

                      (a) Find the average speed of the car.

                      (b) If the van left Town P at 0810, at what time would it arrive at Town Q?

                      Thank you 😄
