MP echoes calls for PSLE to be scrapped

I think fewer exams better. The kids already do national exams where they can benchmark themselves, like New South Wales Uni paper. And, if the kid is good at any subject, the school will send them for competitions, like Science Olympiad, Math Olympiad, this competition, that competition β¦ No nid for more exams β¦ Sec sch oso know how to look for competition winners to join thier schools

ya i do foresee having same papers can help them to see their standard... but i hope it should not be treated as major as psle... its added stress...
Oh of course not ... Just like on gep they have common tests and exams .. With tt can stop school from doing too little or too much .. Fair and square.. Get to know a pri school let their students take 2 sets of prelim exams!!!..
Yup tt is one of the reason I think .. With these same papers we can know how our kid did as compare to the rest of the cohort ?...vlim:

And the objective is to level up the standard? I don't get it, appreciate if you could help clarify. -
No, Becontented, like I said, it isn't the stress, it is the time taken for all these exam preparations.

At whichever point in time, just go for the exam......at that 'current' state.
Whatever DS has managed to revise/prepare, that's it. After prelim 1, continue his revision. Time come, go for prelim2. Life as usual, just study a bit longer. Ok I admit, I'm not one who studied much last time. No wonder my hubby seemed stressed :? kept asking me how's the preparation :rotflmao: -

Butβ¦ we should ask ourselves what is the aim of education. If all it is to get the paper that says youβve earned a degree, then, well, exams might be the way2go. In future, our graduates may well be competing with graduants from other countries. What will give our graduates an edge? What will encourage future MNC, or SMEs to pick Singaporeans over a grad fr another country?
I donβt think itβs too far into the future to ask ourselves these questions. Before long, our kids will be competing with global sources of manpower. I would not like to see our local grads fail in their ambitions because we parents have been too narrow in our definition of what skills sets to equips our children with now. -
