Comparing Pre-school English Reading and Phonics Enrichment

My personal view is Icreative will be a wiser choice coz my gal was sent there and was good. I cannot enroll my boy there due to the unsuitable time slot and I have no choice. Now Im still thinking if I should send him to MS instead but still hesistating… Anyone try MS phonics for their kid and what the feedback?

For me, I would strongly recommend I Can Read. I enrolled my DD last year based on my colleague’s recommendation. It was the right decision to enrol her. After a mere few mths in the course, my DD has confident in reading on her own. Now she can read independently a variety of story books eg Roald Dahl books, and can even answer comprehension questions (covered in Advanced ICR). She would most likely still be struggling to read like a number of her child care friends if she did not join ICR last year. Coincidentally, those classmates of hers who can read well are also enrolled in ICR. I find ICR effective and would recommend to parents.

Phonics Read appear to go by 2 names in Singapore:

and http://www.phonicsread.com/index.htm (in collaboration with i3 Singapore Post)

These 2 appear to be operated by the same group of people. They claim that children can learn up to 500 words in 6 lessons (1.5 months). They also appear to have a regional presence in KL and even Yangon.

Their services appear to be quite similar to the more established http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/enrichment/total-literacy-international-pte-ltd programme.

Personally speaking, given a choice, I would be more comfortable going with the I Can Read programme.

I would like to hear yr opinion, my K1 gal have short attention span. She sometimes answer my question without thinking, thus giving the wrong answer. When I repeat my question again, she will know she gave the wrong answer so she will think before answer. What method should I use on her? which should I enrol for my K1 gal, Phonics & reading or I Can Read programme? Pls advise.

Can I confirm the effectiveness of Phonics Read? I have a younger brother looking for a programme for his child currently in K1.

The fees for Reading Eggs are $360 per term. Quite reasonable. I went to look at the Reading Eggs website at http://www.readingeggs.com. Really very interesting lessons.
