I always tell my school students to buy a guide

        book for science from popular.
I even wrote their titles on the board,
        and they copied and bought.
In fact, all bought. But because it’s too thick,
I didn’t use it class. It’s too heavy for them to carry.
Told them to use for their revision
        at home.
And also told them not to depend on their
Science textbooks because it has nothing.
They even keep their textbook in their lockers
        and I’m fine with it.

Yes, science teachers all stress key words,
Simply because it is easier to explain
        to the parents.
But it’s not the case, I find that logical scientific
concepts and answers matter more than key
        words.

The Science textbook, workbook and English text are all a waste of money. They simply do not give students the true picture of what they will be tested during exams. Why do we parents have to waste money every year buying all these useless titles

Exams are FAR FAR more difficult.
I seriously think MOE should review what's happening, for eg the textbooks we are made to buy.

Do all schools use the same text? Ok, even if there are a few variants to choose from, are all these scoped and scripted by moe?

Son's school uses 'Perfect Match'...in my opinion, bullshit. Lousy match more like it. When he was in primary P3/4, there were 2 supplementary assessment ordered for students - home practice and test units which at least gave him an idea that science isn't what he sees in stupid text. Strangely for upper pri, these titles were not ordered...instead some title by Ace Publishing.

Can MOE do something about those books we have to buy ?

Seems there is a variety of approved texts which the schools can choose from. But all equally inadequate. Workbooks necessary cos need to hand up homework.

For English, think some schools teach Language Art instead. Am also not too sure what it is because the relevant kid also not sure what is happening during lesson. Only know they have to buy an additional prescribed story book. Guessing it is similar to Literature.
