Club Breastfeeding Mums
-
I have been breast feeding for 2yrs plus Sat afternoon I had fever of 38.7 and early in the morning my right breast hurts. The pain is from right armpit to the right breast. When I massage my right breast, some parts feel a bit swollen. I did not see the GP becos those in my area are closed. This morning my temperature is back to normal. The pain is not as bad as Sat.
Has any mummy experienced this before ?
I can’t decide if my fever is related to the pain in my right breast. Only certain parts of the right breast is painful to the touch. -
Yes. I got that before. The GP within my estate geve me a roach-case-like-pill
to eat and it was fine after a few days. I forgot the name of the pill tho. I Yes i resumed breast feeding. This was when i had DD1. -
SAHM_TAN:
THere's infection if you have fever. So quite likely you had a plugged duct that developed into mastitis, or you have a cut somewhere and bacteria was introduced thru cut and likewise some infection.I have been breast feeding for 2yrs plus Sat afternoon I had fever of 38.7 and early in the morning my right breast hurts. I had mastitis on one side for 1st time with baby no.3 when he was like 2yrs old too.
Can just continue breastfeeding while massaging the \"hard\" painful areas to keep the milk flowing and clear those ducts and the infection. No harm to baby. -
Thank you buds and phankao.
The fever is gone. Stayed in bed on Sat and Sun and kept massaging the most painful area. Now the right side is more aching than pain, so I think it’s more or less ok. -
SAHM_TAN:
Just be aware of it ever happening. If so, then down lots of garlic (pearls? high-dosage helps). And lots of fluids. Treat like flu symptoms.Thank you buds and phankao.

Hot compress eased my pain by a lot! But tts just me but you can try. Somehow it helped with the blocked ducts as well. Because I was on medication, I couldn't bf for that few days. So I found relief in the hot compress (small towel soaked in hot water) prior to expression (which I discarded). During hot showers I massaged the affected area as well. Finally, I took up the old wives' tale on the cabbages. It's no tale wor. It works! Put a few to cup the affected one inside your nursing bra (if you're wearing a bra at all that is.. cos at home mah!) My fever slowly subsided, together with the painful to the touch feeling and the cabbage leaves sorta softened. When I wanted to replace the cabbage leaves, milk was slowly dripping from the nips. Yes, my pain was from both girls!
I was up and bouncing about again before the end of the week! Easy part was, because I was then a FTWM.. DD1 was on two feeds EBM & alternated with one feed of FM. DD1 easily adapted to both bottle feeding and the taste of formula, thanks to that arrangement. Easier on my Mumsie too, cos the baby didn't fret.
Take care, SAHM_TAN.. :hugs: Hope your girl will be fine soon.
PS. Your DD ok without boobie feed a few days? Any alternatives for her? -
Thanks buds. I was rather sleepy over the wkends, so only manage to massage the affected areas.
Bb is ok. She’s basically eating and drinking whatever that the older ones are having but she likes to latch on.
I was on the very plain Panadol so she will come in the room for latch-on visit whenever I’m awake. I tried to limit her to the left side. -
Hi mummies, I bought a enfa mum milk powder on Friday. Not open at all, now I have no use for it. It’s vanilla flavour and I would like to give it away to mummies who will benefit from it. Please let me know who is keen.

It will be a pity to throw it away since I just bought it. Pls don’t feel shy about it and ASK me for the powder.
