Yah good point mashy! I was adviced to engage a shadow teacher because I wanted him to follow up on what he learnt at wee care. Initially I felt there wasn’t any need but still feel kan Chong that he’s not interacting or applying what he was taught. So now thinking to hire shadow teacher to help him. But then school is usually about learning and limited play time like 10-15 mins. I can’t think when the shadow teacher can come in. He can focus, do the task, act on instructions etc. So I guess to hire a shadow teacher just for interaction is abit of a waste of money hor?
Anyone engage a shadow teacher before? I'm thinking of getting one to follow My son to school & prompt him to initiate contact with his friends.

No I didn't although I am tempted. But a shadow teacher is expensive.

I wanted to and enquired...but we can't afford. It's about $40 per hour or about $5K per month!!!
So expensive! U quit your job and shadow your kid better siah. 😛

I practice on my own with him. For example, one of the lessons taught the kids to ask question like \"What are you doing?\". So I ask him this question whenever I find opportunity and told him to ask me back.

And I practice turn taking with him, sometimes get his sister to join in.

Hmmm, i think is subjective. For my boy, it did help a little but after a while it was stagnant, that's why i did not continue.

My boy doesn't pick up the phone and try to call but when the phone rings, there are instances where he picks up and put it on his ear. But he just kept quiet. But I do talk to him on the phone. When he is at my mum's place, I will call and ask my mum to put him on the phone. I will say \"hello\", then he will reply \"hello mummy\". And I ask him questions like what is he doing and he will tell me he is playing his car. So does that count?

I heard the government will announce in Oct that they will subsidize $300 per mth for private intervention. Previously, this subsidy only applies to kids who are waiting for vacancies from Government EIPIC and taking up private intervention during the interim. If this is true, it will be great as I am considering to send my boy for private EIPIC at Leapfrog.

Double E, my boy waiting for Rainbow.

S$300 is peanuts. after that still have to fork out around S$900 for epic in private.

                      and only few of them.

yes, your boy very good!! on phone already…

$300 is better than nothing. But is true, is a bit restrictive to just 4 private centres. They should just grant the $300 as long as is private therapy.
I am also in the process of transferring my boy to Rainbow but if this $300 subsidy is confirmed, I may put him at Leapfrog. See how it goes.

These few days, my boy has been throwing tantrums over small things. And for a few times, when I scold him, he will grab my hand, look at me in the eye and say "Mummy loves (his name) too". Sigh! I feel so heartache hearing him say that. Is his way of saying "Mummy why are u scolding me, do you still love me?"
