Where does yr maid fold the clothes after they are dry? On her bed or do you have a laundry area or table for her to fold the clothes?

Mine just take from hanger/pole in the yard, fold n put in a clean laundry basket (solely for clean clothes only). She will take them out to iron, and put put the clothes in the kids' cupboard. Mine n hubby will be on our bed after ironing.

Since my last maid went off, I was quite determine not to let my new maid dominate the food source. My previous maid chose everything galah from seasoning to chicken. Now with the new maid, I purposely told her no halah chicken since she is working for Chinese family. I did it to tell her she cannot dominate my food source. My last maid make my kitchen become halah kitchen for 3 years. I m determine this time I will not let maid do that anymore.

My maid buys halal chicken too.
Personally, I don't see anything wrong with that.
She can eat it and so can I.
She does cook pork but of course she doesn't partake of that.

Maybe nothing wrong in the beginning but slowly and surely my ex-maid began to become pious. She added more religious acts when she was with me as the days goes by. At night she pray very loudly swaying her body. She put a glass of water and pray then drink the water. I thought nothing wrong also. Then I notice before she cook she also chant alittle. Again nothing wrong I thought. Then one day while chatting with her, slip of her mouth she told me she has been praying I won’t get pregnant so that she has less work to do (I have only one child). After that, I thought she was very selfish to pray for something like that.

She left on a Tuesday and on Wednesday I discovered that I was pregnant. After that I miscarriage. I m not sure if this has anything to do with her praying. So to have peace of mind, I m not letting new maid become too pious. I still let new maid pray 5 times a day but I don’t want it to go further and beyond.

Hmmmm. peapot..I don't mean to be overly superstitious or anything but your ex-maid may not be really pious the Islam way. Sounds like she could be engaged in some voodoo rituals? I'm sorry about the loss of your baby..it could have been a mere coincidence or a combination of stress and other factors, but I can understand why you're traumatised and a lot more wary now.

My previous Filipina helpers were supposedly staunch Catholics and accompanied us to church..thought if they loved God, they would do their best at work and behave properly. Sadly, it wasn't always that case. Have also observed a few other helpers merely using the church as a platform for making friends..after the service, they take their fancy tight-fitting clothes to change elsewhere, usually in a shopping mall eg. Taka), put on heavy makeup and perfume and meet their boyfriends and/ or flirt openly in public.

One poster mentioned her helper not changing her undergarments for days..My current Indo helper initially only showered once a day in the morning, despite my reminders (stark contrast to my earlier helpers who would shower frequently each day!) I suppose she was thinking of saving time. However, as she carries my baby girl a lot, I 'm very particular about odour and hygiene. Finally, I told her very firmly that in our household, we must shower first thing in the morning (after completing the bulk of her chores and before kids wake up), and after dinnertime. I don't bother checking on her underwear though. Maybe you can bring maid to buy more underwear or encourage her to use pantyliners (at her own expense if she refuses to cooperate).

Nowadays a lot of maids are not seriously here to make a living. I have heard of a number of cases where maids come up with silly excuses to transfer/ go home when they are told that their mdm is pregnant.

When we told my ex-maid that we will be expecting a 3rd child, she was all smily and even congratulated me. I thought to myself that maybe this maid is different from other maids. But was I wrong about her coz she definitely has some other agenda in mind. So I left it at that until the day I found her sneaking out of the house in the middle of the night.

When I think back, she must have thought that we will not fire her coz of a new addition to the family, she will be more valuable in the household. So start doing things that make us feel that we've been taken for granted. Anyway, good riddance.
