So disappointed... 😢

This year's English and Math papers have all been very easy...

why?? easy is better... can pass or score higher...

@verykiasumummy
If the paper is easy, then average will be higher, so if the person does very well, his very good score is not so outstanding, which means t-score will be lower than if the paper is hard and he does well. :scared: :stupid: :frustrated: This paper too easy, a lot of people in my class didn't minus much marks. 🤷
Ready2go, You are right.
The psle this year too seems to be like the prev couple of years. No too tough differentiating q . So probably the top score would be around 280 . Which means as you go lower the density of students will be higher and higher.

No so good , in my personal opinion. But well...

Try smashing the science and Lang papers...
Just like your dad smashed me in the debate 😆

All the best.

This year’s math pretty same standard as last year but i can tell you the chinese and science papers, especially science will test you very greatly on application skills. So reading and memorising alone wont work, need to encounter more and different types of questions.

For chinese, just need to understand and know all the words your dd learnt over the past few years. The cloze passage for chinese wont be easy.

Paper one was easy but everyone thinks that paper two is hard. On the whole, the paper is easy but with the exam stress, especially the PSLE stress, it is hard to do paper two well. There are many high marked easy questions in paper two. But not many people think that it can be so easy.

My frriend's daughter told it was soooo difficult, especially paper2.

Generally feedback from my friends and colleague DC and my DS are paper 2 very tricky and tough. Quite surprise why some says very very easy. Why there is a big gap. Is it because all school not the same or can't be the same! Tricky is probably because as what stated in yesterday ST forum, wonder Maths is abt English or really formulas. Questions are constructed in a way more towards English ie u must have powerful English and not solving skills!! :slapshead:

I teach Accounting and I have a student who asked a similar question before: Am I testing Accounting or English? I told him that the medium of teaching is in English. For all the subjects, except for MT, the students must understand the problem sums/questions, which are conveyed in English, before they can exhibit their problem solving skills. In fact in some schools, the MT teachers are teaching MT in English at times.

This also explains why communication skills are so important at workplace. A person can be very knowledgeable and has excellent problem solving skills but if he cannot understand the work problem and cannot communicate how to solve the problem, he is not a performing employee.

My daughter says almost her entire school says the paper is easy.....so it cannot be hard

As far as I understand from my daughter, the english if fine but you have to apply the concepts correctly e.g many students who did not understand the question correctly group the 2 men and 3 women in a group for q29. If you think carefully enough, you would not be able to do that because only 1 men and 3 women can form the group or you would be repeating.

It test your ability to analyse

The paper mainly tests students on general concepts, if any of you have the OnSponge Conquer book, you should know that few sums came out from the book. Topics such as "Gaps and Differences", "More than less than", etc. were not tested.

Hi Ontheballmother,
Hope you will not be offended by what I'm going to say next.
Everyone has different abilities, some stronger in Maths & Sci, some in languages or other areas. Sch may make a little difference as well.
Whether a paper is easy or tough would very much depend on the child's strength in that area, so guess we will have to take the cue from our children.

I think KSP has a lot of very bright kids/parents. There are many GEP, HA, top students who attained gold/platinum awards in Maths competitions, so naturally these kids will find the paper easy. My son is also pretty strong in Maths & he claim paper2 is easy. But imagine how shocked I was when these kids here can complete under an hour when DS took 1hr 25min leaving him little time for checking & discovering his careless mistakes.
But to me, DS already tried his best.
一山还有一山高。 人比人 气死人. 😄
