To implement "LIKE" button
-
ChiefKiasu:
Thank you all for your feedback. We hear you. We will be removing the display of the reputation count while retaining the Like button for each post.
That's fast!
So is there still a limit to the number of likes we can click per day ? -

That's thanks to our efficient BungiiThat's fast!

But now the code is all so customised that we will have problems upgrading to newer versions next time.
Yes. The limit is still there. No Likes inflation allowed. -
Imami:
Absolutely agree....truth is always not as pleasant to ears as untruth...
Second what firefly said. Like.firefly38:
Good posts may not necessarily be Popular posts (& vice versa).. On the contrary, good posts are usually less (or not) popular, as they speak the truth, which may be hurtful to most ears (eyes)..
Hopefully, with the implementation of the new system, we will continue to share & post truthfully from our hearts, instead of posting only what people \"Like\" to hear (see), just to get more \"Likes\" & \"Reputation\"..
In my view, \"karma\" or \"reputation\" feature implementation could have more side effects than good .....
Thanks chief for removing it.... -

Chiefkiasu, can just change the reputation to total likes maybe?
It sounds better like this. -
Dear bookwrappers...
Senior grandmasters oso doesn't mean well liked.
It just tags to number of post counts. The more one posts,
the faster the rise to kiasugrandmastership. It does not at
all differentiate kiasu grandmasters who really contribute
or those who share constructive posts or just lor li lor so
their way right to the top. :skeptical: We used to be able
to (discern) though... as when the forum first started it
was practically ghost town. Everybody knew everybody &
everybody (or most) shared real-time sharing. The flow of
information exchanges were useful and constructive.
These days due to traffic and members who own multiple
accounts (so I've been told) .... to be able to discern is a
skill. What with everyone rushing to read posts without fully
understanding them or what the poster was really trying to convey..
real information n quality sharing gets distorted and very quickly ppl
hit submit reply button to counter.
Back to topic... I voted no big deal as even without this feature we
knew the posts we like for their honesty... and call me old school
but I like the :goodpost: just fine.
When I heard abt upping karma I was like :skeptical:..,
Then it changed to reputation... I went.. :whut:...
:faint:
Actually we oredi hv the kudos feature for \"selected\"
portal publication akin to \"reputation\" and has worked fine
as well. Because these articles have been \"selected\" by the
heads, it makes kudos from members more trustworthy since
it was first liked by the heads to have it featured up front to
share with others. I believe by far those with ink got articles
featured. Some articles created never saw the front page due
to its lack of substance.
To me, whether or not there is a \"like\" feature added to posts
doesn't matter, it's the continued sharing of information that
makes a platform like this a successful venture.
As it is, so many valued members have stopped sharing entirely.
Valued contributions can be stark in your face truth but unpopular
due to its honest content that not all readers might agree with. It
can also cause the poster to be suanned (slammed) for not being
in agreement with the majority. Agree to disagree has been BS so
far. Agree you'll be liked, disagree you'll be slammed. This hinders
real-time exchange of information. -
Imami:
Like that ar... :sad:tankee:
Can we like just the posts and not increase the reputation?
I don't think it is possible due to the limitation of the available feature in this version of forum software.
The reputation will be deemed as some form of status in ksp. It is very normal to accept that the higher a member's reputation, the more \"senior\" he/she is.
My concern is, sometimes the good posts May not attract \"like\". We have nice folks who updates on book sales or current affairs or even assessment books. Such posts most often don't attract \"like\".
there could also be abuse of such system. Already I see at least one member cajoling for \"like\".
That was me joking with Tankee, don't you get it? Madam Almighty? -

Wow, u Folks are so efficient! Like! :lovesite: -
Iβm new here. And was flipping thru the different threads to look for things discussed.
Frankly speaking, when someone made a good remark, or something u agree with, u will want to reply it with Good Post.
Another person who sees it will post same thing. After a few pages, thereβs still ppl posting back or replying to older comments saying Good Post.
This makes ppl reading the history very troublesome.
And also, i see so many posts with just a laughing icon to support the joke in their comments. These are just cheats to increase post count. To attain their whichever color belt.
Having a like button reduces that. So when somebody still does that, i mean to reply the post and say Good Post again, it means the person is trying to increase his post counts. Maybe many users like what buds said, sounds to be users of ksp forum since long ages back. U all may be still used to replying with Good Post, but new users like us wun be able to cheat the post counts by replying every other post just to say Good Post.
I hope u get what i mean. -

I totally agree.... these are the PCW. From what I see, some member even clicking 20x or 30x of these laughing icons daily, and we are made to read again and again the same quoted posts...
