I read an assessment is required, does it mean that they take in students with a "minimum" standard?

No minimum standard. Just assess if your child is suitable for which level of writing, from basic, intermediate or advance. Usually for P1 & 2 is basic

Is your kid currently attending the creative writing there? Can share what do they do in class?

It’s not the usual creative writing school. They play word games, reading, discussion etc in class, according to my ds

My elder son has to go to that area for science enrichment and dh decided to send the younger one to cogito to hv some ‘fun’. He likes it because it is not those drilling class.
