Yes ! It rings a bell for Ms Yeo Bee Leng though DD is not taught by her. Great to hear that as well. Now, DD misses IJ a lot as she is posted to another school.

School should be FUN...this is something I personally feel. The principal is the deciding factor...whether kids enjoy school, or not.
And perhaps this is the reason why I registered daughter in my alma mater...to experience that kind of fun. There are tests every 8-9 weeks, and I am guilty of ranting. School exams are set bcos MOE said so. But we should not deprive our kids of fun. They are only young once.

Precisely. The kids are young only once.

DD enjoyed having the 2 exams only in SA1(30%) and SA2 (70%) when she was in IJ. Now that DD is in GEP, the current school has assignments or projects for submission every or alternate months. Time management is an inundating task for a 10 yr old kid. She is now hoping for liberation after the exam is over by next week. Cheers.

My son may have finished PSLE, but he lamented on his loss of childhood.
It has been an arduous journey this year. I feel sad that it had to be so tough. Next year when he goes to Sec 1, there are many changes.

Even though my princess in P2 doesn't excel, I tell myself, 'What the heck, she is only in P2.' I do not want her to suffer the same unhappy childhood in primary school like gor gor. Bearing this in mind, I will still revise with her for SA2but not push.

Yes, school should be fun …and the girls had a great time today…my girl was so happy today with all the goodies and food as well as fun seeing her teachers wearing the IJ uniforms and performing on stage…even the principal was wearing the IJ uniform. And my girl had a good laugh when the teachers acted as students who were late for school, with the principal being the latest…Mrs Tan also pretended to cry as she walked up to see the prefect…

As working parents, we also want to have Work Life Balance. It is important that I want my DD to have the same - Study Life Balance. Now that yr DD is in P2, let her enjoy the fullest as when she progresses to P3, it is the real start on academic level.

I believe the same for your DS. It will also be a steep learning curve of having more subjects to add on.

Give a good pat on your kids. Life is never been easy for these kids now.

                  Hi Book Worm,

Not many adults can enjoy work life balance. BUT I hope primary school students get to enjoy study life balance. Well, maybe in some schools, it is still possible…but the Principal plays a big part to allow that to happen.

P2 to P3 will be different. I experienced that first depth several moons ago…but son managed to swim to the surface at P4 after struggling for one year.

Our poor kids have to experience rat race at such an early stage.

Hoping that HSK will pro actively fine tune and review periodically on this education system. The hot topic on PSLE is a living testament on how parents and their kids get anxious in excelling well to have a foothold of good sec schools. Our children still have a long way to go....

:offtopic: or maybe I should say this may not apply in IJ TP.

As a former student of IJ TP (both pri and sec), I sincerely hope my daughter studies in this school all the way till Sec 4.
If all the schools here teach the kids adequately, I believe our kids will dare to sit for PSLE bravely. It will also be fair and square.

The COP for IJ girls to go to the affiliated sec has increased to 220 with immediate effect. PSLE is a hot issue bcos kids need tuition to gain a foothold in better sec schools...and for kids in primary schools with no affiliation, the stress is even higher.
