Not early lah. Walk from Dunearn Rd Bus-stop Gate to their classroom to put down their bag/things, yak with friends a little bit, then start walking to Parade Square at 7.30am. Assembly is at 7.40am. Just nice, I think. Not so rushed.

Yesterday had a talk with my DD maths' teacher. I was informed that the last Maths paper wasn't too difficult. DD's teacher is proactive, she talked to those who did badly or very badly the reason why they could not do the paper. General feedback was not enough time for this group of students who did not do well.


Whilst going through each and every question with them, she felt that they had forgotten things taught early this year and that maybe they revised only the later topics learnt. But this test covered the year's work.

Some were tired out cos of boarding.

I am of course disappointed that my DD did not do well, but with her coping with boarding, doing her laundry at past 10 pm as her laundry was rejected, ironing her uniform there (whereas at home the helper irons her clothes), attending prep lessons, house meetings, stressed waking up daily (as opposed to us mointoring her and waking her up if she is at home), sleeping past 11 pm daily there, and Maths being her weak subject, what can I say..... and yes, their Maths is not something of that being taught or covered in mainstream schools, so says the teacher.

Boarding not that tiring lah. My DS says he sleep at latest 11pm every night. Next morning wake at 6.30 or 7. Enough sleep. No need to iron clothes also. Just send for laundry or bring back to iron lor. Why your DD need to iron clothes? Did she not send for laundry? No need to wash herself. If not enough uniform or have problem sending for laundry then just buy her another set of uniform la. Next year boarding can use again.

:rotflmao: I KS. Bought DS enought uniform for the whole week so only need to send PE attire and normal Tshirts and shorts for laundry. Easier :evil:

She has 4 sets uni. But because her clothes got rejected for Fri and Mon's laundry, so she had no choice but to clear some herself using the washing machine there and hence the ironing too.

Oh dear, I didnt withdraw frm the current enrichment centre for maths and they dont end till January.. was also thinking of giving dd a headstart for chemistry. Now that PSLE is over dd has 3 mths before jc start, brain may turn rusty.

My boy has 3 sets of uniforms. On Friday, he'll just bring home whatever he didn't send in and we'd have that washed at home and ironed. usually it's only that set of uniform that he wears home on friday. Then he'll have them all ready to bring back on Sunday night.

My boy has 3 sets of uniforms. On Friday, he'll just bring home whatever he didn't send in and we'd have that washed at home and ironed. usually it's only that set of uniform that he wears home on friday. Then he'll have them all ready to bring back on Sunday night.

My DS also don't send anything on Fri. Those dirty clothes still not washed on Fri will bring back. (Followed advice of phankao :thankyou: ) So far send his wet dirty clothes after canoeing always get back nice and clean! No prob. Maybe get your DD to check with her friends the proper way of labeling her clothes.

Some information:
NJ maths is accelerated so that we are learning more than the usual syllabus. Also, the maths is structured in a different way(I'm sure you've heard teachers speak about not following the MOE syllabus) which may make finding a suitable tuition centre difficult(Most go by the MOE syllabus). As a matter of fact, NJ even recommends not going for tuition. For students who do not do well in their studies, they can feel free to look for their respective subject teachers for clarification and guidance. There is also a consolidation programme for maths and science.

I suggest that you search for a tutor who teaches by subjects, like the one I go to, or a home tutor(more flexible) if you strongly feel that your child requires tuition.[/quote]Though NJ maths could be accelerated, but they were taught on those usual topics. As long as the tuition teacher is competent in secondary school math, I don't see any concern.

dd is entering Sec1... any idea whats the Dsa COP for NJ, my CO is the standard letter , no score idicated for express entry.
What scare me most is if dd does nt keep up with the schs GA... (something) she will be thrown out of NJ, and transfered to another sch.
Shes not frm Gep so I dnt know whether that will make a difference in NJ.
Dd told me she will hv a mentor n she likes the curriculum. Im looking at the academic part cos frm primary to sec. especially IP is a greap big jump.
and life will not be like in normal sec schs whereby theres remedial etc

BTW, How are the tutors, do they help guide the weaker students.? Tks
