http://tdy.sg/UMEAB5 - NTUC Membership has terminated the services of an Assistant Director Amy Cheong, following inappropriate comments allegedly made on her Facebook page. β€œThe NTUC takes a serious view on racial harmony in Singapore. We will not accept and have zero tolerance towards any words used or actions taken by our staff that are racially offensive,” said Secretary-General Lim Swee Say.[/quote]Wah...though I think what she posted was not right... But getting fired and announced on FB?

          Internet is indeed serious business.
Moral of the story... Your FB friend could be your worst enemy.

Yes, I agree. I thought she will probably be issued with a warning. But for her to be fired and announced, that is really....

Now I am starting to think if it is just FB or even forum using nicknames are vulnerable too..

she is a AD, should have some idea how to behave already at that level. I believe all public officers need to adhere to some kind of code of conduct, even in their private life.

I suppose we have to constantly remind ourselves to post responsibly in our sharing. Then we should be fine.

But FB is not private, it is public. Many people don't understand that.

Reading her posting again peppered with f language....it is totally uncalled for. At her level, she should jolly well know what to do. FB is a social media which all your FB friends (potentially include ex-classmates, colleagues, bosses, relatives, etc...) will get to see. With lax security setting, even a guest can see your comments. So I feel that it is also an extension of your professional life.... and care should be taken when posting there. Even headhunters go to FB to size up a candidate... what got into her????
