she is a AD, should have some idea how to behave already at that level. I believe all public officers need to adhere to some kind of code of conduct, even in their private life.
Private lives are private, I think she is entitled to live her private life any way she deems fit.
I would fire her for stupidity.pirate:
Wah...though I think what she posted was not right... But getting fired and announced on FB?
Internet is indeed serious business.
Moral of the story... Your FB friend could be your worst enemy.
:celebrate:
I got no FB friend. I got no FB account either. :imcool:
But FB is not private, it is public. Many people don't understand that. -

Reading her posting again peppered with f language....it is totally uncalled for. At her level, she should jolly well know what to do. FB is a social media which all your FB friends (potentially include ex-classmates, colleagues, bosses, relatives, etc...) will get to see. With lax security setting, even a guest can see your comments. So I feel that it is also an extension of your professional life.... and care should be taken when posting there. Even headhunters go to FB to size up a candidate... what got into her???? -
i know where you are coming from 3boys but it doesnt work this way. Public officers are to conduct themselves in a manner that upholds the integrity of the Public Service and public confidence in it and should not behave in a way that will bring the Public Service into disrepute.

public officers are also human la… they will also hv bad days at work if scolded by bad-tempered bosses…
no matter what that is posted on fb, i just feel that ppl should not get penalised for being "out of their minds" just once in a while… of cos regular postings of negative values and moods is a big no no…
that’s why as your position gets higher, your posts on fb gets lesser… so true… -

that's true but unfortunately, not all folks are that understanding/forgiving.... i stopped posting on FB too. scare...public officers are also human la... they will also hv bad days at work if scolded by bad-tempered bosses...

3Boys, or anyone for the matter, do you know if personal blogs are considered "public"?
i re-read your post and I believe I didn’t catch what you are saying earlier. Your point is “FB” is public but most people think that FB is their private life. My point was she is a public officer so she needs to adhere to the prescribed code of conduct, doesnt matter where/what. So I am wondering how about personal blog which is available for all to view? -
Imami:
absolutely... that's why these ppl get slapped in their own faces for whatever they post...

nowadays i rarely go on fb... esp also because i'm spending my time here in ksp instead... i feel many times, things that i post in fb are being read by so many ppl, aquaintances and ex-colleagues.. some maybe potential colleagues.. i hv heard of some friends who got into trouble for what they posted about their ex company and later rejected by new company... haiya... if ppl want to take it so seriously for what we post in fb, then best thing is not to post on fb anymore.. its not like a public place, its more like a judgement platform... u r being judged of what u do and post in fb... what the.... -
MMM:
that'll be so boring....
I suppose we have to constantly remind ourselves to post responsibly in our sharing. Then we should be fine.
Everyone says everything that is politically correct..
I'll rather embrace freedom of expression..
She says things in her own capacity as individual.. she's entitled to her views.. Just that some crap blogger trying to incite racial disharmony out of it..
for one thing.. I do not agree with her.. I feel void deck wedding is fun and it is good to have these joyous celebrations in the neighbor.. it gives makes the estate more exciting..
But the blogger saying crap remarks that Chinese are less tolerance towards the minority race which is not only untrue, but an unjustified sweeping statement. Isn't the blogger trying to stir negative feelings against another race?
He is no better than the Amy. or even worse..
What Amy said, draws criticism towards herself only. But the blogger made untrue remarks that could potentially draw unhappiness towards another race. -
But erm…. I believe we should be responsible for what we post on the internet even though it is a faceless society. Some may even describe that as a anonymous society. I want to be the same person as I truly am, on the street, at home or in the cyberspace.

a blog is public, whether they named it personal blog or blogshop or whatever... only difference is nobody will know it until there are posts of something \"hot\", then 1 shared with 100, 100 shared with 1000 and becomes contagious...3Boys, or anyone for the matter, do you know if personal blogs are considered \"public\"?
