      hi workingmummy,

Class alphabets are just short for the name - D = Diligence. I believe even in P3 onwards where there are ‘best’ classes, it doesn’t go by A,B,C - the alphabets will change.

DS1 told me that he also has to go to another class for the exams. Not sure why they are playing 大风吹, but figured it may have to be for purpose of exams.

Checked with DS . All his classmates are spread out to other classes, only a few left in his class. Kids from other classes going to his class. And seems like kids are randomly picked.

I think they do stream the children based on certain subjects. During p1 n p2, my gal had to move to another class for Chinese lessons. And for math, she had extra class once fortnightly to do enrichment math worksheets. Now in p3, she is in the top class, no more moving/shifting around. And I was told they will stay in the same class for next yr p4 too.

From what I know, from P2 onwards, there’s the STRETCH prog. It’s to help students who fail and also for students who are very academically inclined.

                bumbum,

In your opinion, are the maths enrichment materials from school comparable to those found in maths enrichment centers?

                TIA 😄

Hi, the school actually asked them to purchase my pals are here math enrichment book which u can purchase frm popular. By p3, the sch had their own challenging problem sums and some of the questions are those common heuristics questions which I saw in some assessment books. Hth

Just this once...(because you should go find the stationery thread).

Major shopping centres (not sure if OG carries) and Kinderfun (United Square got one). you can see from the link below also.
                        http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=845&start=50.

IF you are going on holiday to Hong Kong, Sogo causeway bay has SPI section. the bags are much cheaper and different variety. I got one for DS2 on a trip sometime back - it even came with its own cloth bag (I think it's cheaper than the isetan one).

Other brands you can consider is Dr Kong. it's very popular in Hong Kong and also ergonomic in nature and i understand that you can find it at City Square Mall (farrer park mrt in SG) but sorry, I am not sure where exactly.
