My suggestion is for those who want to do something now before the PSLE release, ie, select a possible range, say, 230~260 and then select 2~3 for each 5-point interval. So by the time the results are released, u roughly know which are the schools you would choose. Just have to arrange them in the order of preference.
Yes...hubby & I rounded up the schools.
Selected schools from 220 to 250...quite like what slmkhoo mentioned,
2 'hopeful' schools, 2 'reasonable chance' schools, and another 2 'sure' schools (I borrow your quote). -

Yes.Just curious. Parents with kids in real neighbourhood primary school, do you let them try test papers from the top schools?
I'm trying to understand is there a great difference in content. Or it's just that kids are not expose to a particular type of qns.
It is good to test them and see where their standards are. Exposing them to different schools' test papers will provide them with the opportunity to see how different questions are set.
I have also one suggestion. Go to KSP Maths, Science, English, etc forums and see what other parents have posted. You can see many different types of questions and it is good to expose the DC with such questions. -

Of course
If I just based on his school's easy exam papers, I'll still be in dreamland dreaming that DS is a 270s calibre :rotflmao: Which of course I know he's not. Better shock & expose DS earlier to difficult questions rather than during PSLE itself. -

Was he able to handle them? I'm trying to understand is it a case of difference content or exposure to application type of qns and higher order type of qns.SAHM_TAN:

Still need a little more clarification…
Is the COP for the past 3 years a safe gauge? From what I’ve read in the different threads, the number of applicants who choose a school also plays a very big part in your chance of getting into that particular school. Given that this is the auspicious year of the dragon, competition would be a lot more stiff, wouldn’t it?
Does anyone know if this scenario has ever happened: where all the places in a school get filled up just by First Choice applications?
Still mulling over this very complicated affair… -

Depends on how u choose your 6 choices lah. If the prev yr's COP between your 1st and 6th is only 2~3 pts apart, then if all 6 schools' COP rise in tandem, then you jialat liao lah!!Still need a little more clarification....

u got 6 choices for a reason lah! Use them wisely! -

The COP of a school is based on demand and supply, so obviously the number of applicants is the key deciding factor. Past year COPs are, as you mentioned, just a gauge.Still need a little more clarification....

It is possible for all places in a school to be filled up by students who put it as a first choice. If that school has the highest COP in Singapore, anyone putting it as a 2nd choice will already have gotten into their first choice so no chance of them getting into this highest COP school. -

No lah. don't work this way. You can refer to the PSLE booklet to find out how schools are being allocated. It all depends on the student's result.Still need a little more clarification....

It doesn't mean that if Student A put SJI (just an example) as First Choice and Student B put SJI as Second Choice, Student A will get in. If Student B has a higher T-Score than Student A and put SJI as Second Choice, he will still get in before Student A.
Another example. If s there is only one more place left in SJI, and if both Student A and Student B apply for that school, Student B will get in although it is his Second Choice becos his T-Score is higher than Student A.
And if both of them have the same T-Score, then MOE will go into the decimals to decide who has the higher T-Score. -

will all affiliated pri sch students able to get in if meet affiliated COP, or still have to depend on what is left over after other non-affiliated sch students have taken up the places since non-affl cop is higher?

Based on my understanding, as long as affiliated students meet the affiliated COP, they will automatically get in. Only the balance will be left for the Non-Affiliated… Please correct me if I’m wrong.
