Was reading forum of other sch, seems like they also have this form filling exercise before the orientation day. Whereas some sch have confirmed P1 pupils' classes.
Anyway was looking at sch website n noticed orientation day is results admin day n holiday for the schooling pupils. So Rejoice can bring DS1 to watch over DS2

Orientation day means sit in the actual P1 classroom, meet actual form teacher and buy books, arrange for school bus? Experienced old birds can share?
-
Hi Beauty,
During the orientation day, the students will go to their future P1 classrooms and meet with their FT and classmates. In the classroom, the teacher will let the students do some worksheet and coloring. I believe the kids need to bring along a pencil case and color pencils that day. While the students are in the classroom, the parents will be in the hall. The principals and teachers will share with the parents information about the school, including school hours, uniforms, books purchase and school bus. Other more details information such as CCA, tests, exams, parents support group will be shared on the first two days of school. If i remember correctly, you should be able to purchase school uniform, shoes and talk to the bus vendor on orientation day. It is good to bring the kids to orientation day so that they are familiar with the teacher, classmates and environment.
Hehe Ninjago, think DS2 will be too excited to meet his classmates and not care too much about DS1;).
Apparently the letter about form filling exercise has been sitting in my mailbox since last Friday ;-). I called up the school today. They told me they will pass the forms to my DS1 for me to fill at home. If you are not able to go during the marking day, call up the school to see if they can arrange for a pick up on other more convenient time. -
Is the school classrooms air-conditioned? Thanks.
-
Hi Miracle Child,
The school classrooms are non-air conditioned. They are well-ventilated with ceiling fans, which is a better option, especially for the children after their PE lessons - they will be all sweaty and \"smelly\"...hehe.
Having said that, there are few facilities rooms which are air-con, namely the music room, ava room, computer lab and library.
Hope this answered your query.
Cheers,

Hi All, I m new to this website. And my son will be in Primary One next year.
A lot of uncertainties & worries on my part as my boy is the quiet type. He doesnโt really speak up in his k2 class & am concerned that this will be a problem especially when he needs to communicate with the teachers n classmates. As he is a December baby, his learning milestones are also abit delayed compared to other kids his age. Understand that Teck Ghee primary has allied educators whom parents can speak to regarding children who slow learners?
Any mummies who share my concerns? Thanks. -
hi, does anyone know is the after school care planning firmed?
-
Hi Concern mum,
Yes, the after school care plan is firmed and the school is accessing the right location for the centre.
Just to share - this ASC is target at certain group of children and i think the school will only qualify those that meet the requirement. As there will be subsidies from the ministries. That was shared at the recent kopi-talk session. You can ask for more information when you attend the upcoming P1 Orientation in Nov.
Regards,

Hi djskoh,
Welcome to the group and the big family of TGPS. Though I donโt really have experience like yours and the aided lesson TGPS teachers gave, I heard there is indeed one. If there is no reply from other parents here, you can bring your DS to the orientation day so that he gets to meet his FT and classmates before school open. You can also talk to the FT that day or talk to other staffs from school. I am sure TEY will be happy to help and answer your questions.
All the best and come visit us often so we can share and learn together.
