I feel Amy Cheong's post will not invite so much backlash if she had posted her opinion as it is without making her piece expletive laden and with that atas undertone.

Kind of pity her now,in such a sorry state.
Educated person should think before talking. She brought this upon herself...now she really invited attention.

Hubby was mad that someone with her post can spout rubbish...furthermore related to religion. Our parents had gone through hardship of those clashes...what the he^* was she doing? She deserved to be sacked.

Actually, I Think it is a combination of the words chosen, the subject she talked about, the medium on which she talked, her employer and her position that made the whole thing news worthy. Each by it’s own, except the subject she talked about, is not impt.

Singapore is on general, very mindful about keeping racial harmony. If she had talked about her neighbors being noisy, expletives included, I don’t think it would generate so much attention. The fact that she mentioned race, would be a big no no.

I don’t think there is any on religion involved in her post though.

 she did not touch on religion, my mistake. We would like to maintain harmony.

                http://www.straitstimes.com/breaking-news/singapore/story/nuclear-technology-not-suitable-singapore-yet-20121015
Nuclear technology not suitable for Singapore yet
CURRENT nuclear energy technology is not suitable for Singapore yet, a pre-feasibility study has concluded.

But the two-year pre-feasibility study, done by government agencies, external consultants and independent expert advisers in response to an Economic Strategies Committee recommendation in 2010, did not rule out nuclear energy altogether, and recommended Singapore continue to monitor the development of new nuclear energy technologies.
The \"yet\" sounds scary...
Hope my kid doesn't have to live with nuclear in our backyard.
                :yikes:
