fizz,
im not faulting whole team. i already said I’m unlucky to meet some…
my son therapist is located at HBP not SACC, only physiologist done at St Andrew hospital.
Fizz , I’m happy for u tat you meet good therapist at sacc. pls yr son will become better. I saw one 10yo, cuz parents keep in denial… he has full of bruises all over his body because he hurt himself by accidents. or self hurt him self if he can’t get his wants… he can’t work on desk & etc as ASD.
only recently at 10yo. he get 1:1 therapy, he is now able to sit down to do his work.
The KEy " MUST WORK with THEM" "THEY desperately Need our Guidance"…"BE Firm to them" once guided, they understand… at times they repeated what they not suppose to do is because they are trying to double confirm otherwise they are testing… -
SlmKhoo,
maybe diagnoses vary from KKH & Private.
I will get another report when my son need to get assess again. then i ask previous one a copy. Thanks for Advise.
that time i feel she is doing shabbily bcos, previous before i suspect my son is ASD, when he reached 2yo, we went for NUS - Child Dev study, they did somehow the same cognitive or language physiologist test… which also my son has scored above average of his peers.
there where i compare their attitude and they way the handle the child. -
Mashy,
as explained, have already tried 3 session OT, 2 session SLT w hBP therapist… i find that 1hr is not cost effective & not rationale. should at least give two hrs and work w my son alone , later then tell me what shd i need to follow up at home.
i don’t car, i have to ferry my son from cc to bhp to home… so much time already wasted in the journey and go there barely 1hr or less , not work w my son but assessing my son…
I will probably drained out my energy by then & stress out with pack bus , up & down the bus and the Scooting Hot weather carrying my son , & his school bag & my bag…
sometime when i reach there i already feeling giddy and still i have to go into the room to work tgt with therapist to assess my son…
they shd ask reviews from parents. & feedback by parents how effective are these way. -

ImeeMee,
helplessmum, 'why' questions are more difficult as you need to build in the logic with 'because xxx'. I am currently doing a lot of exercises with my daughter everyday explaining about 'why-because' and hopefully she is able to improve her logical thinking. Sometimes she can and there are times when she cant.helplessmum3:
KarKar,
For just this month my son is able to answers these questions:-
Ei \"what are u doing \", what are u eating\", what are you drinking\" \"what happen\" \"who is this\" \"what your name\" , \"how old are u\" \"how are u\"
He answer all correctly during the moments .
He still don't know these \"w\" questions like
\"why\" \"when\" \"how to do this\"
'When' is also more difficult cos you need time concept to answer such questions, and I find time concept very difficult to teach. So also at the stage now where I just keep explaining to her.
The other easier one is 'where' which you seem not to have mentioned in your post. This is relatively easier cos places are visual, which would be more straight forward for them to grasp. Try that as well.
Stay positive and dont give up.
my son understand \"where\" , i will ask him go where eat ice cream he will say go swensens, go where eat bake potatoes, he will say \"go wendy\", go where get french fries, he will say \"go macdonald\" go where where play water \"go swimming pool\"
but still need to brush up.
ImeeMee, cuz i see their milestone at this yo, they should have understand , what is morning , after & night already.. my son still clueless..
for weather he understand, Raining, Sunny & Windy.
Thanks , you always provide me a lot of times and really in details which I'm able to work w my son.
Thank you so much -
I didn’t read my son’s psychological report so many times cos I know whatever that is written inside there was what I told the psychologist and now the diagnostic are passe already…
I needed that report more like a confirmation to say my son is ASD n get into eipic.
My son never do any iq test… How is it being tested??
Just now my son went to ask this NT kid "what is your name" at the playground… The NT kid never reply lol… But when the NT kid tries to tell my son to follow him, my son just "ahhhhh" and ran off… But I am still happy my son learn what to say when seeing his peers like asking him for his name… -
Mummies,
Curious, are your kids behaviour consistent at home & in public? Instance if he gives good eye contact at home, does he give others good eye contact?
I’m as puzzled as ever. For my son, he gives us good eye contact, has all level of joint attention with us, will ask us questions like ‘what are you eating dad?’, bring things to show us, ask me to look at him during play, has the social awareness ie he knows who comes to school late, who’s father came to pick him up etc. But when out, he start to look away when people are talking to him, doesn’t ask social questions to others. Though I’ve seen him approaching adults for help. Also he doesn’t fidget much at school but at he’s social group he’s a little fidgety though not disruptive & still within he’s Space. In other words, we know he has the social capability but don’t seem to have the social intent. So he’s like day & night at home & social setting. How are your kids like? -
I watch this documentary on bbc .. I hv very heartfelt emotions.. I think u all will like this documentary as well..

I was not explained in detail the 6 criteria either. The psychologist only told us that he met 5/6 criteria needed and hence his is a \"complicated\" case which she finally diagnosed as NOS.
Fizz, what are the 6 critiera to confirm the diagnosis of autism? We were not told of any specific criteria during my daughter's diagnosis.Fizz:
Actually PDD may not be so called milder than other categories on the spectrum. It really depends on the severity of the symptoms. In theory, these kids are PDD because they have symptoms of autism but they do not satisfy 6 of the criteria to be medically termed as autistic.
I did some googling after he was diagnosed. You can read this lengthy article to have an idea of the criterion.
