All About Full-Time Maids

Hi people, I have checked with agency and this is the current situation for hiring new Indonesia maid under new scheme.

Just to share, some rules may differ from other agency.

1) maid’s loan 8months also called placement fees which is paid directly to agent.
2) maid minimum salary w/o experience $450. 1 off day is a must.
3) agency fees $1000 - $1600, depending on agency.
4) if maid turn out not suitable after 3 months, you can transfer her out and the remaining loan will be pro rated and returned.

If anyone has any new info to add, pls share.

Then pay agency fees $1200 and insurance $300.
Total $5000. All pay one shot. Eventhough the 8 months is salary for maid, still to pay all in 1 shot is ridiculous. And no guarantee a fantastic maid!! Tough life for employer.

Your agency sounds expensive to me.
I think my package is something like SGD480 x 6 months.
Then agency fees SGD600 + insurance SGD250.
I remembered totaling about 3 thousand plus (less than 4K) which already is very expensive to me.

Do we start paying the maid on the first month or after 8 mth ?
If we start paying , then the loan $ 3600 will be quite a lot for us . Plus agency fee and insururance . Total will be around 5k

Maid’s salary pay after 8 month. Because you would have paid the loan directly to the agent before maid start work. Which means even before maid start work you would have paid close $5000. After she work for you 8 months, then u start paying salary.


This seems to be the case now. October is the month where most agencies starts the new scheme. If you get yr maid before October, you may be paying less. However if you are starting your maid search in this month then you will be paying more. If anyone has additional info, pls share with us. Right now it seems to be employer paying for everything in advance.

What ? So much ? OMG...that excludes their meals, accomodation, doctor...maintaining them.

Btw, now the Indonesia govt also DO NOT allow direct hire. Need to go through agents appointed by their govt.

My grandmother's maid was a 'direct hire'. This maid went home for 1 year. She has worked here for 14 years. Aunt got a maid agency to arrange documentation to bring her in...spent $2000, which included 1 way ticket, doc checkup. Insurance excluded. The maid had to get her passport in her own country.

My brother is looking at Myanmar maid. Indon not many bio data avail while Filipino maids are hard to manage.

Mum will be helping out with newborn…both of them working.

It’s SIL who needs maid…mum didn’t want another maid after all these years of freedom. Mum is shuddering with fear thinking of a maid in the house again. SIL plans to work from home later, so with maid doing housework and cooking, she can bring bb home.
