There will always be surprises coz many of these parents show little expectation n the kids just go there and HOOT and they just get selected!

Those who keep talking n pushing the kids…many of these kids suffer meltdown during the test after failing to answer a few of the questions n panic. Heard of girls breaking down n crying…visibly traumatised.

Understand that there are many projects to do for the GEP pupils, does that means much parental involvement is needed? Though the pupils are 'expected' to do the projects themselves, but at this young age, i do believe that much time and effort are expected from parents to guide them along (or even teach and help him) to do the projects? or not? my concern is if my kid is not an independent learner, as in need nagging and pushing to do his work, although he is rather good academically, would he be suitable for GEP prog? i am a working mother and i am afraid that i do not have the time needed to help him go through it. Hence even though if he would be selected for GEP, i am really contemplating whether should he do for GEP or not. Hope more parents with GEP pupils can share their experience good and bad ones for my info. thanks

Hi snow123, u may like to go to other GEP related thread e.g All Abt GEP, P4-P6 GEP (2012-2014) General Discussion & 2011 GEP Screening & Selection. U can get more info. & learn from other parents' experience thru their sharing. But of course, it will take u quite some time to go thru all the postings. Hope this helps. 🙂

To all kids going for their selection tests tomorrow.. Rest Well and GOOD LUCK.

For all the parents here, all are just as excited and/or nervous as our kids. Most importantly, give the kids the encouragement and support :snuggles: 💋 they need. I believe they are under a lot of stress as well bcos I think they can see our behaviour, dont think we want to add it onto them anymore.

🙏 :xedfingers: ALL THE BEST FOR TOMORROW AND NEXT DAY

DS is having slight fever & headache this a.m. Thinking of not letting him go for test if he is still unwell tomorrow. Other than informing MOE, does it require a MC?

Already been to the doc & had the antibiotics on standby since last wk when his sensitive nose worsened.

I don't see why you need an MC. You're just giving the the test a miss right? And thus giving GEP a miss?

Just curious why rulers are not allowed to bring into the test centre.

                I was wondering that too!

                Me too. 😄

He might have misgiving if he misses the chance but actually wanted it. I almost stop/ discourage my DD back then and now she kept saying it was the right decision to participate in GEP.
