      Double E:

      Mummies

      Need your advise.

Currently, my boy attends mainstream cc on 4 days of the week cos one of the days are taken up by Therapy and EIPIC. Now, I have the choice of putting him in a private EIPIC but schedule wise, it means he will have to miss 2 days of mainstream cc instead of the one day currently.

If you are me, what would you choose? to let him go for his private EIPIC and miss two days of mainstream cc or stick with the current arrangement?
What do you think is more impt? to go to a better EIPIC to learn and overcome his ASD issues or more chances to mingle in a mainstream environment?

Double E, I am opposite. My daughter only has EIPIC with no mainstream cc and I am worried that she has no exposure in mainstream environment.

I have been actively looking for a mainstream childcare but its really expensive to pay full-day fees and go for a few afternoons. Fees structures are created in such a way that half-day fees are about the same as full-day fees after working mother subsidy so not much point to go for half-day program from fees perspective. Spoke to her EIPIC teacher this morning and she agrees that mainstream environment is important. But if mainstream cc doesnt work out we may try other things such as putting her on other enrichment in mainstream group setting.

Sorry that I have not answered your question, but I really think the mother is in the best position to know how much of EIPIC vs mainstream. There are many factors to consider, and what is the focus for you and your child right now should be one important factor. Also, I have been inspired by the phrase 'let your child have his/her childhood'. Many times we as mothers are anxious to get our children to improve and catch up, actually we should also think about what the child really wants or enjoys.

Tough call, but when I am faced with dilemmas and dont know what else to fall back on, I trust my gut feel at that moment. To me, that's about the best that I can have.

      my two cents worth.

Thanks. Seriously, this issue has been in my mind for a while and till now I have not decided which route to take.

But my gut feel tells me that at this stage, it is more important for him to attend a better EIPIC that can help to address his ASD issues, cos only when he can overcome his issues then he can function at his best in a mainstream environment. And furthermore, I am not taking him off from mainstream totally, just reduce it for one more day in a week. Haha, I seem to be answering my own question? LOL.

For me, I'm putting up my girl in mainstream Nursery (Mon to Fri 8.15am to 12.15pm). It happens to coincide with her ARC timing (Tues to Fri 12pm to 1.30pm). I regards EIP more important than her mainstream nursery becos i feel it's more important to address her functional deficits now when they are still young.

Hence she will attend her mainstream nursery till 11am daily and take her lunch at home before going to ARC. On every Fri, she will also have her ST at 2pm. So after her ARC ends at 1.30pm, have to take a cab rush down to attend ST.

            Lavendry,

can help me break down th cost for DAN. like test how much consultancy how much , supplemnts & etc?

what supplements you currently give your girl or what dr kay prescibs for your girl?

my son has very bad skin allergy. Will DAN similar to TCM herbs?

The cost of the DAN varies each time you visit him becos it depends greatly upon which supplements / medication he prescribe. I remembered first time consulation is $200, follow-up consulation is $100.

I couldn't remembered how much does each test cost. It ranges a few hundreds dollars for each test. I remembered first consulation with basic supplements (Multi Vit, probiotics, fish oil) and tests like (hair test, stool test and IgG) already cost me like 1.2K+ 😢

            Her present daily supplements are:

SuperNu Thera w/o vit A/D - Multi vit
            Tri EFA - fish oil
            BCAA - bone
            Zinc
            Magnesium - claming nerves
            Silymarin - Milk thistle
            Astaxanthin - antioxidant
            Vit C
            Micellized Vit A
            Candex - yeast enzymes
            Factor 6 - probiotics
            Culturelle - probiotics
            S.Boulardii - probiotics
            MB-12 - jab

Pending supplements which i have yet to be given to my girl
            Iron - blood count
            Calcium - bone
            Transfer Factor Sensitive - immunity
            Galactomune - immunity
DPP IV fruit free with isogest - enzymes
            Biotin

She is presently on Nystatin too due to her yeast. In addition, i also soaked her in Epsom salt bath daily.

DAN is different from TCM. TCM medicine is more on plants-based? While DAN's supplement are from supplement companies.

I also applied biomed on my boy but I couldn’t keep up and the supplements are so expensive. So in the end, I only take away milk from him (replace with rice milk) and give him probiotics which aids in intestinal health.

Anyway, my boy starts his intensive music therapy last thur, twice a day (15 mins each). I am not sure if because he is growing up (he is 3.5 years) or is it because of the therapy and our effort. These few days, I get surprises out of his mouth.

Eg. Yesterday, he saw me eating Durian and he commented "Smelly smelly, I don’t want to eat durian".

Then today, while I was dressing him, he said, "My tummy is painful". Usually when he is in pain, he will just cry and put his hand over the area that is in pain. I will need to ask him what is wrong, is it stomach ache , or are u hungry? But out of the blue, he can tell me that his tummy is painful today then let out a groan.

But his anger management is still not good. When he doesn’t get what he wants, he will cry out loud and wail. Like yesterday, when its time for us to leave the playgym, he refused to leave and made a din. He only moved after we said goodbye to him and pretend to leave the gym, he then followed us but throwing tantrums at the same time.

Thanks for the comprehensive write up. Yes DAN is not considered mainstream and hence there is some skepticism.

Just for my learning, is there a reason why the mercury level in you child is high? It’s a heavy metal that doesnt accumulate unless through consumption. How does it get into the body?

Arielmermaid, for my son, mercury is v low but cadmium off the chart. V high in molybdenum n potassium. I asked for dmsa n dmps as I read with many good reviews. But my Dan doc refused to give citing they r a form of drug n rather give my son ch77 or zeolite. In think different doc, different school of thought.

His bowel was really stinko too. N bloated stomach. Improve lots after I changed his diet.
To minimize dustmite, I have stopped letting him sleeping on mattresses. I will lay playmat follow by charcoal pad then bed sheet on the floor. Almost every other day, I will bring the pad to sun it. Wash the bed sheet every week. Service the zircon frequently n make sure no mould growing in the unit.
Probiotic - I realized both u n lavendery give more than one type of probiotic. May I know why? My son is given only dds probiotic. One cap in the morning n one cap at night. After reading up so much on gut healing, I realized probiotic is really important. I just started my son on coconut water kefir less than a month. My husband was amazed with it after seeing my son’s behavior. It acts as a booster to all the improvement that he has. I wished I knew of it existence long ago

Somehow, it seems that most ASD kids have high mercury which is why their brains are wired differently. And they normally have yeast infection issue hence need to take probiotics to breakdown the yeast.

Double E, I think your son is just going thru T3 stage. Most kids r like that. In fact, my Dan doc told me I will see more of these after my son’s improvement which is actually good news.
