Heard from DS that there are four comprehension passages. Time is tight and could barely finish.

I don't see why you need an MC. You're just giving the the test a miss right? And thus giving GEP a miss?

Thanks, would rather he rest at home. Health is more important.

It's advisable to check with your ds too. Does he wants to go? He might have misgiving if he misses the chance but actually wanted it. I almost stop/ discourage my DD back then and now she kept saying it was the right decision to participate in GEP.[/quote]I know what u meant...after 3 decades, I still hv a big qn mark. My parents had opted me out from 2nd round of the 1st ever GEP test bcos of the logistics a new sch if I were to get in. Think v few GEP sch then.

Actually, I was facing the same dilemma wrt DS, as the nearest GEP sch is much more inconvenient than going to his current sch which is just 10min walk away, esp w an infant in tow. Again, sch bus service will b uncertained & exhausting w after-sch projects & the distance etc.

However, I hv decided that que sera, sera & consoled DS that there r many more tests & opportunities in life to come. So what if he missed this? He will hv other opportunities in future. (He wanted to visit NASA like his sec sch cousin who was a Gepper.)

DS still had high fever & vomitted phelgm in middle of last night, so we just let him sleep in this a.m. Of course, felt a tinge of sadness that one day he might \"blame\" us for this.

Imagine my panic when he woke up at 8.40am, bright & cherry w/o fever & exclaiming he could go for the 9am tests! They will let him take the tests long as we arrived b4 9.30am!

The test centre is 20-30min drive away, the kids & I still in pj & his stationery etc not packed yet. So after calling dh in office, we decided not to go & called MOE.

                  Guess what??
After getting the details, the officer told me that for DS' case, he will b given a retest this Fri & Sat (depending on #of days of MC given) at MOE HQ!!
                  🕺

In fact, DS just vomitted out his plain porridge breakfast & we haven't even go doc yet. Imagine me rushing to bring him home if he were to b sick in test centre?

                  Que sera, sera!

So if he were to b able to get into the program against all these odds, we will support his decision. 🙂

Hi Vevey, that's the reason why i attached the moe link for ur reference yesterday, as it is stated in there that \"If a child falls ill on the days of the Test, the parent should inform Gifted Education Branch immediately. The Branch will advise on a case-by-case basis.\" As I hv abfriend also encountered same situation last year n her dd was given another date to take the test.

Good to hear that MOE has granted the same arrangement for ur ds too. Wishing ur ds a speedy recovery & good luck. 🙂

                      Hi Vevey,

That's good news that MOE is willing to give him a separate test date. This could all be fated. 🙂

                        Thanks, 25hr mama & jtoh! 🙂

Hope his fever will break soon..
We r prepared to bring him to HQ for 2 days (instead of just 1 day) to buy him more rest time.
He was already thinking of celebratory lunches at Orchard! *faint*
