For my daughter, I have one less worry bcos she has affiliated sec...but 220 is risky too if not strong in languages. She will need to get at least 4 As. I will worry about that 4 years later. Now have to strengthen her English in the meantime.phtthp:
220 is still very far away from ... 250
Exactly !
If it is only 220, I would put my feet up and relax now. -

Based on your postings,
250 = minimum 2A* + 2A
220 = at least 4A
IMO, I dun think 220 is at least 4A (your expectation perhaps).
Maybe parents who have gone through PSLE can help to clarify so that new PSLE-to-be parents do not get the wrong perception and esp. those who are more average will not get all worked up unnecessarily. -
my understanding is also 220 need 4As.

my husband is different cohort as me, but he got 3As plus 1A* donkey years ago, but lower aggregate score than my 4As.
-
I am not trying to scare anyone here.

If a student gets average score for all the 4 subjects, his/her T-score will be exactly 200. If the average of 4 subjects is 75% (which I doubt for some subjects like Maths), then one really needs 4A to get a T score of 200! -
some one should do a statistics on this!

This is highly possible because the mark range for A is very wide - 75-90 marks. This is still happening today.my understanding is also 220 need 4As.

I do not think MOE revealed the average score for each subject in the past. So wonder how to do statistics.
Without average score and standard deviation, based on that T score formula, we only know that a student who scores the average score for all the four subjects will get a T score of 200.
Can we make a guess of what mark range will the average be? -

if bell curve is consistent, the value of our stars last time is it the same as now?

does my question make ssense? -
alng:
agree about the big range. my friend's 4As is worth 12points more than mine.

does my question make ssense?[/quote]I think the letter grade is likely to be consistent with the bell curve but the calculation of T score will be different. My time maximum T score was not 300 then.
