Do autistic kids have poor muscle development? I noticed that my son is very uncoordinated. When I see him practise his tkd moves, I wanna shake head. It's terrible. When he runs during sports day (all the kids in class had to participate), he ran like a toddler.
Why did you go to see the psychologist unless you wanted a diagnosis? A diagnosis would mean having a label. If you don't want the label, you can still ignore it. Don't use it on your son, don't tell anyone about it, don't assume that he will be the 'typical' case. Just deal with the issues. I didn't get my daughter diagnosed and so she didn't get a label, but I still worked on various issues with her. If I needed other people's help, I would just describe the symptoms - she's introverted, she doesn't converse well, she daydreams a lot, she's not well-coordinated etc. Once when she was having a hard time with a pushy PE teacher, I got a pd neurologist to write a letter stating that she was poorly co-ordinated with weak muscle development (he said if I wanted a definitive diagnosis of 'dyspraxia', she would need more tests, but we said the letter was good enough) which allowed her to continue PE lessons without the pressure. Well, based on what you have described of your son, it seems that he is definitely progressing well. It might have been just that he was a little slower to develop in some areas. In my opinion, the psychologist should not have given a label when your son was so young. Certainly in social skills, he doesn't seem ASD at all. Maybe you should just ignore the ASD label for now and focus on specific issues.helplessmum3:

She love sharing especially on things that she is interested …she is also ASD. -

Thanks mashy! i think my boy is less serious when compare to both asd boys in the show. but my boy does show similar symptons like hanging out at lift landing when reach home. sometimes really got to drag him back. but seriously we dunno why he dun want to come back. too facinated with the lifts or dun want to go home cos he still wanna go out??
the mummies in the shows are as inspiring. too bad i cant give up my job just like them, which makes me guilty, but i totally understand the same worries and feel the happiness they hv for their son. -
less serious i mean in terms of speech and social interaction as compare to the boys. but my son cant draw like the 23 yr old as he has weak fine motor skills.
i could see the pride and joy in the mother’s eyes when her son played piano.
it really is so moving and somehow it makes me feel hopeful.
my boy got good memory and can read. what things can i do to futher develop this strength? -
