They are a listed company so at the end of the day, they are looking more on profits. If they don't give discount, they earn more.mummy of three:
They open up to earn money, not open up to give discount what.
But if want to give, then do so willingly...or else don't give.
Already market leader, nobody to compete with.
When my son was in P1, my friend told me must apply for popular member once i receive his student card, bcos i will definitely need to buy assessment books or stationery. It started with 20% in June and Dec. March and Sep will have expo sale. Dec Book fest. Now, so miserable. -
mummy of three:
My tutor is assessment books writer so can get discounts
Which assessment books author? -
janet_lee88:
What did you do? Complain to popular?Pen88n:
We should all protest to Popular. Don't they know Sep is bad time for shopping for parents as all are only in the mood to prepare kids for final exams? :frustrated: We all start buying books and stationaries for the new year after getting the next year book list. How can they do this? :stupid:
I've already done that, not once but twice.
Which parent is in the mood for buying assessment in the midst of SA2 preparation ??? Popular is already market leader...no one can compete with it. Can't it do charity by giving discount in Dec ? -
I called Popular customer service and explained to the executive that having a promo (20%) in Sep is inappropriate…a more suitable timing is Dec when parents will be getting assessment books to prepare their kids.

Oh. So what did the person reply you? I think they can give one discount but do it in dec. We are not in the mood to buy any new assessment books in Sep as we need to prepare for SA2. -
weatherbee:
The reply he gave was expected..'.Thank you for your feedback. We will look into this'. I am not expecting 20% twice a year...but like what most parents mentioned, give that discount when we have time to browse and short list what assessment (and stationery) we need after we have bought new textbooks. September has always been a critical month, regardless of all primary levels. Buying assessment is not like going marketing :stupid:janet_lee88:

I am sure popular is aware of this issue and purposely do this to promote selling books during nonpeak periods.weatherbee:
