To most of the people, those are useless materials. For those who are craving for more intellectual and wisdom-related knowledge in the areas of their interests, those materials are treasure to them.

For kids who are craving for more knowledge, there is always the public library...need not be school syllabus based material.

I know. My friend showed me & tho her DC is a year younger than my son, I was over what I saw & knew instantly it was a blessing that DS was not in GEP. Dun even bother to borrow the material cos it's not going to be useful without the proper lesson/guidance.

Whoa from this post alone (supplemented by your explanation in the previous posts in this topic), I straight away can tell that your ds is a steady-Pom-pee-pee GEP calibre type of student. :celebrate: So envy. All the best for the GEP selection. Impressive!

Actually, if they are truly gifted, they can figure out those materials themselves eventually.. I personally have seen \"these\" type of students before...

They may appear to miss out but in reality, it's only for 3 yrs.

Hmmm... so we should have a sub-GEP category for said very-gifted-yet-suay-therefore-undiscovered gems who don't have much external support? How about those gifted kids who are not selected but lucky enough to have the support?

Tell that to a high ability child with no access to tuition nor supplementary materials from his school. 3 years with only textbooks to learn from can mean the difference between NA and Express. Of course there is nothing wrong with NA but why should a capable child end up there just because he lacks access to learning material?

But that's coz the school or teachers are under par n gep may solve your problem but not THE problem.
