        Nebbermind:
Glad u agree! I also donch understand why class size remains the same as during our era.

I also think we are trying to squeeze too much into our primary school kids so much so that the teachers can only teach with little interaction. It's just too dry, like some boring sermon...it can no longer be this way...must go the charismatic way....everyone rah rah happy happy...
Actually... I read you often enough to know where you stand already. I know we actually do agree on the issue... and I am grateful for you.

If MOE could afford to do for every class what they do for GEP, they would have done it already.

三个孩子的爹,the people who ask for it harbour great hope!

I outta here bro, never even touched the GEP sub thread until my DS got inadvertently pulled into round 2. Fascinating how people get worked up.[/quote]Natural lah. When it's scarce & people wanna 'fight' for that few vacancies, all these will happen. Just like P1 registration, carpark, Uni place, scholarship etc. Some will be frank about it, some ..... well ..... 🦆

Now... the PSLE syllabus comprises critical thinking skills that GEP style teaching is best for. So... you have a bunch of less able kids in mainstream... tested at PSLE for skills that GEP style interactive teaching is best for teaching... but mainstream teachers teach in huge classes of 40 using thin textbooks and ummm... teachers so incompetent they make 5 spelling mistakes in 250 words.

If you wanna test GEP like thinking skills in mainstream, then provision should be made to be able to teach it as well as to the GEP. If not, dun test it in mainstream. Keep it to the GEP.
Hi Chen, I believe in small class size too. However I do not agree that critical thinking skills needed in psle are only taught in gep. I believed there are schools that prepare the mainstream pupils very well in this area too. I have seen very good notes for the mainstream pupils. Better than the gep materials as in the sense they are better organized, I feel. I think it maybe yr experience with yr ds school or trs that u have this impression that mainstream pupils are shortchanged.
