        scrapbookmummy:
        Hi,

my DD is going to Hongwen next year. With regards to the textbook & uniform purchase on Orientation Day - can those stuff be purchased outside school? I would thought I can get the school books from Popular or so 😉 How abt school uniform?

I was a PV during last year's Orientation - and due to low stock of the uniforms, each child is only allowed to purchase two sets. Would like to know if we could get the uniform outside of school?

        Thank you!
I had problem getting even one set of uniform and socks during orientation last year. But just need to put down my name with the seller waiting list and when uniform arrived, they called us to buy. That was around mid December.

Plus some bks cannot be found from popular like those from Teacher’s Production. You will also need to get school files and exercise bks from school bkshop.

I bought all the stuff from the school bookshop after orientation day. This way dd1 had time to try out the different sizes. I called the bkshop before making a trip down to make sure the stk have arrived.

          Welcome to Hong Wen family.

I am giving away P1 and P2 sets of Chinese story books that the school uses as supplement to the textbooks. Send me a PM if you want to takeover.

Hong Wen is a SAP, Higher Chi is taught from P1 onwards. I believe the child is able to drop Higher Chi at P5, correct me if I'm wrong, if the child is not academically strong in the subj.

There's no exam but the child is assessed for content and skill competencies through Show and Tell, Read out loud, Chinese oral, practical activities for maths, minis tests for all subjects and I believe Tingxie and Spelling, from what understand from the assessment hand-outs that was given this year.

At the end of 1st semester, you will rec a report book, in it there will be marks and subject banding for each subject.

Do you mean the Learning Support Programme, LSP? At the beginning of school term, the P1 kids will be assessed in their Eng and Maths competencies. If the child needs LSP, the parent will rec a letter from school. The parents will attend a briefing within term 1 and the child will attend LSP classes soon after.

I'm not familiar with the mechanics of LSP, so unable to share much with you.
