But in P5, the kid cannot possibly be doing P6 qns coz there will be some topics not taught yet. And if he only do the P5 or lower level qns, isn't that the same as revision for P5 SA2? :scratchhead:

i would think the level of difficulty tested in PSLE is equivalent to P5/6… no?

The first jump from P2 to P3 is not that drastic compared to P4-5.
It's hell of a difference. P5 is to cope and survive first...then drift on to P6. I was informed by several friends that P5 and P6 are the same...how can that be? This year, I there are new topics to cover :faint:
I bought P6 Chinese assessment books...then son's tutor told me should buy PSLE Chinese assessment instead bcos that will cover everything 😓 I compared and realized, 'wow, so different!'
At P6, have to cover new topics + revise.

Exactly! how to revise when not even taught, unless you or tutor could teach in advanced, especially fort he non-lang subjects.

Start at P1. My aim 230s. Not talking about tuition / enrichment for every subjects. There will still be plenty of play time. I have 3 kids with close age gap. I cannot have stress peak for every 1.5 yrs, takings into account preparation is traditionally at P5.

So I'm going to do it my way 😉 I'm planning for a comfortable pace for all 3 PSLE.

              3 PSLE :faint: :rotflmao:

With one kid in P2 and another who just finished PSLE, I am learning new stuff all over again.

One thing for sure...what I have been informed is wrong :scratchhead:
P5 and P6 are NOT the same...bcos that span of 9 months (P6 + PSLE) is squashing new topics + revision.

Exactly! how to revise when not even taught, unless you or tutor could teach in advanced, especially fort he non-lang subjects.[/quote]Hi Nebermind,
I kinda see/understand what you are trying to say & ask. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Each year, the child learns new stuff & there will be SA1&2 to test what they have learnt. So theoretically, at every SA exam, kids are revising their work for the year. At P5, kids are learning P5 work which can be entirely new topics or extension of P3&4 (perhaps more in-depth). When kids take their SA2, it's a revision of P5 & re-revision of P3&4 work which shouldn't be an issue. So frankly, it is important to ensure that kids must at least be able to handle current year workload (b4 attempts to advance them). So Consistent work is important.

Sometimes, it's the attempt to move them ahead of others (before they have attained the necessary capability) that's stressing ourselves up. When my DD first transferred Sch & failed badly during some test/worksheet, I was very concerned. But later I realised the problem was cos they were given stuff a year ahead. :slapshead:

                    BeContented,

Does it mean, your dd’s school, in P5 is already teaching P6 work?

I do not know if all subjects, cos my kids take care of their own studies. But it was in P4, I saw them doing some P5 EL & CL worksheet. So far, for Maths, verbally when I ask DD, she will 'aiyoh' me & tell me its P6 topic & they are not taught yet.

learning and mastering the current topics are more impt than teaching them ahead…

some kids can take it when they are required to learn more things than others, but many just refused to learn… i see many live examples around me… even when i started teaching my ds1 during his p5 june and dec holidays, he was complaining and grumbling all the time…

but i supposed that was the best time to start… too early may not understand…
