My son's exam start next week only. This week we have to study hard, but my son still playing.Don't know what to do.I prefer two exams in a year.We have to face 4 times each year. -
Question on higher chinese. Understand that most non-SAP schools allow kids to take higher chinese in P5 and P6. What are the pros and cons on taking up an additional subject? Would appreciate your views as I have only one day to come to a decision..

DDβs exams are over and they are getting their results back now. This time, I allowed her to decide how much studying to do β¦ but when I thought she was playing too much, Iβd sigh and wonder out loud if she was going to get the grades she was aiming for. I was pleased that this time, sheβd compromise and did sit down to study, after playing. Theyβre growing up β¦

How did u celebrate ur kid's 10th b'day?
Smartmummy,
For this year's DS1 10th birthday, he invited 8 of his best pals over to our house for a small party. Played games, went to play soccer downstairs and they all had fun ! -

My DD also celebrated her 10th birthday with her buddies at home, she had it all planned out even before seeking my permission to hold one, can't bear to turn her down so went along with her.smartmummy:

Sounds familiar to mej.a.m.:
For girls at 10 (from my experience), they are really pre-teens with child-like as well as teenager-like mentality (& bodies!). From my dd, I have been 'blessed' with wild mood swings, streaks of independence, hard work, responsible behaviour and peeks of innocence, maturity & downright weirdness. She is somewhat like a Dr-Jekyll-&-Mr-Hyde personality to me

Rather than weighing the pros and cons, I will first look at how DD fare in her MT, if she is breezing through it then by all means go for it, otherwise I might drop the option and focus on normal chinese. -
For ddβs 10th party I did a "treasur hunt", describing the plants around the estate, and dd & her friend tried to put a name to the description. So we had about 12 kids running around trying to match the name of plants to the description I wrote out. To introduct botanical terms like "bipennate" to them. Next year, I though of doing a "murder mystery" β¦ Its a lot of work and preparation on my part, but I think the kids enjoyed running around looking for "clues". AFter that they were all hungry so they finished the food an cake.
Parents with 2006 kids, haveyou receivedreceived the book list? Seems like all my elder boy's books cannot reuse except music!
Hi, not yet leh... Thought only give during orientation?
Anyway, didn't expect #2 to use #1's books cos I heard that MOE likes to change syllabus and textbooks every 3-4 years and my kids are attending different schools. I had given my #1's used textbooks and unused assessment books to NTUC used textbook drive every year...
i remember for our time, i still used my brother's books (he is 3yrs older than me) despite the edition revision. we simple photocopy the updated pages. lol.
ds1 said health education and CME book cannot reuse as it is both a text book and work book. for Social studies, the title i have is \"interacting with our world\", but the ds2 booklist print \"inquiring into our world\"! :stupid:
but my ds1's math, CL books also all kiam chai (salted veg) already, as ds2 has been browsing them during his spare time.
yes, those were the days... I used to use my bro's textbooks too. and he's 4 years older than me. Didn't even know what was photocopying at that time :scratchhead: ... With the constant revisions and changing of books PLUS assessment books, no wonder the publishers are making big $$$ nowadays! Luckily for me, I have a neighbour whose daughter is 3 years older than dd (frm same school) and son 1 year older than ds, so I always receive her hand-me-downs
Really kudos to you for preparing ur ds2 so well for primary school! :udawoman:
My little one... hmm... has never been inspired by jie jie's doing hw, doesn't like to hold any book in his hand and can only think about bashing through the bushes, scaling poles or kicking ball downstairs... :slapshead: :stupid:
I can see it's gonna be a long and winding journey with him next time... :spank: :lightrod: :faint:
