Hi I would like to ask about Sec 4 promotion to JC. The promotion criteria is an MSG of 3 and my son has already exceeded it. Will he be eligible for re-exams if he doesn't meet the L1R5 criteria of 15? And does the L1R5 score include OC and IS? Thanks.
I copy the slide about your question from the school website for your easy reference:-
If a student fails to meet the above criteria (MSG>3) and L1R5 > 15, he will not be promoted to JC1. Those who clear are subjected to re-examination and are only allowed to take 3H2 and 1 H1 subject.
L1R5 refers to Eng Lang, 1 Math, 1 Science, 1 Humanities and 2 best subjects which may include 3rd language and Higher Chinese.
Anyway, I think final result has not yet been computed yet. -
School just informed that promotion criteria for Sec 2 is MSG<3.0 instead of MSG<4.0. Anyone who scores  MSG>3.0 will go to \"Structured\" IP. This is causing a lot of distress to Sec 2 students now. They should have been informed of the promotional criteria well below their EoY exams and not now when results for all subjects have been released.

Wat is the raw score for MSG 3.0? Does it follow the normal sec sch MSG? B3 = 65 marks and above.

All Sec 1&2 students take a total of 6 subjects (exclude those with third language and Art Elective program). A student will receive 1 point for scores 75 and above; 2 points for scores between 70-74 and so on. Add all the points for the 6 subjects and divide the total by 6 to derive the MSG. Yes, 65 to 69 is a B3 like all other schools. [quote="PiggyLalala"]Wat is the raw score for MSG 3.0? -
Thanks. So the system is different fr RI. RI uses GPA. Max GPA is 4.0, for mark above 80. So wat is yr view on HCI, the pupils as well as the trs? Is it stressful?

And wat is ‘structured IP’? Inplemented only this year? Thanks.

It can be stressful and kids work till quite late at night on projects, independent studies work, homework etc. -

Most of the teachers are very good. My boys (Sec 2 and Sec 4 this year) do not find it stressful and they participate actively in their CCA and other school activities. Hence, they are busy throughout the year. Some of their friends stay up late at night but not all of them sleep late. My boys sleep at around 10:30pm to 11:00pm. I guess different people have different study pattern, some can focus better at night, but not my boys. Time management is very important.
