Did yr son fight back ?
No. -
Slmkhoo,
I always hav to speak loud to my son, but when I speak softy on the items he like he can hear it and react very fast. I tried b4. Haha especial the food he like.
My son only sensitive to loud noise but he has already overcome now. Like vacuum cleaner .
I thought high function kids when they reached teenage they dun need much help already no?
Im still not start him on potty train, very lazy & tired after work maybe I wait for a while. I also haven hav time to make a room for him, haven have time to source good bed for him and set up his room :P.
Cuz now we are focusing most on his asd.. once he more stable, I think I will try to start potty train & sleep on his own bed, will 4year old be too late?
Slmkhoo,
My son has main issue like talk to him at least he duno how to answer yet. Still need to work on that. He only know how to request his needs and demand this demand tat.. ask him question like… some times he will answer like, when I ask “do u wan to eat fries? He will just say “ Eat fries” mean he wan eat fries.
My son dun have much tantrums, he listens to instructions. Quite co operative if he pay attention.
I will take note of his lack of sleep. Might be one of the reason if he did not perform well.
Thanks for all the tips.. pls keep coming very helpful… especially I think I keep talking loudly to my son when he is not pay attention, really waste my breath. hahahaa

Just some tips to share.
If you ask him "Do you like to eat fries?" and he replied "Eat fries", this in ST’s term is considered Echolalia (sorry, not too sure of if I spell it correctly). You can try to get him to answer "Yes, I want". Have to keep practicing, one way is to make sure he answers "yes" with him nodding his head, before you give the fries to him.
For potty training, you can get this new CC to train him. Ask them to bring him to pee every 30-45mins depending how much water he drinks. Just pack extra sets of pants for him to change. Since he spends most of his day time at the CC, is easier for them to train him.
For my son, he can answer questions but only if you ask him the usual way. For example, if I ask him "What is your sister’s name?" he can tell me. But when I ask him in another way like "Who is your sister?" he will be blur. Both questions lead to the same answer but he can only answer when asked the first question but not the second. Another example, I ask him "What is your mummy’s name", he can tell me correctly, then when I ask him "Who is your Mummy", he will say my name too. BUT, for the 2nd question, instead of saying out my name, he should point to me and say "you" because I am his mummy and am sitting right in front asking him. So for NT kid, they will likely to point to me and say "you" but my boy says out my name instead. So this is also something that I am working with him now. I realise he hardly uses "You" which is a conversational. And alot of times, he refer to himself as a third party so I have to train him to use "me", "its mine", "my". -
double e,
this is so hard true…
so forever they cant get things right, or they will eventually get it some day? -
double e, i even as a 3yo boy. i ask him how old are u he say , he say 3. then i ask again, wat is yr name, he say 3
-
slmkhoo:
im releif, thanks.
Your child is still young enough that you shouldn't be concerned about 'forever'. Even NT kids will make a lot of mistakes in speech at 3yo. But I do agree that you should teach very specifically what you want him to say or do, and get him to practise it before responding. The things he is learning in the preschool years are fairly basic and he will eventually get most things, so be patient.helplessmum3:

They like but not capable of doing so at this age. My son was doing parallel play till about 6.
Like I said, go and read up more. -
