SAHMs do not seem to be viewed in positive light...or should i say never ?

There are extreme views of SAHMs even from my own circle.. relatives, cousins, who have always wondered what exactly SAHMs do all day everyday?

....but I do have good network with other SAHMs and we are good cooks, have spanking clean homes, the best academic coaches for our children we know their strengths and we can work on their weaknesses because we understand them best, a pillar of support to our husbands' career, the backbone of our families and majority of them are inspiringly entrepreneurial too, in one way or another!

We are not lazy like ppl assume we are.. or whiling/wasting our time/youth away year after year.. or bo chap abt how our children fare in school.. or worst.. typical boring frumpy housewives. Oh no we are not!

i am no big cook or flat is spanking clean (ironically cleaner without a maid)...after son's last PSLE paper, I was asked whether I am going back to work :scratchhead: My answer is no...bcos I enjoy being around for my kids, though my blood pressure shoots up. I have called the shots at home for 13 years...couldn't possibly give that up. Even my kids call me the QUEEN of the house...I love it :please:

Ermmm I am a good cook (by my family's standard of course) ... and my home is spanking clean (most days).. or rather I try my best to, especially since i have two young babies at home (apart from my two girls).. and I openly confess that I am looking forward and am going back to work (in fact I have been working from home taking up freelance stints) and I try not to shortchange myself with personal grooming and time outs for myself. :please:

I have managed to pursue my work interests and still be around for my children and though it consumes all the time I have in a day, it's a fulfilling path for me. Important thing is that everyone is happy.. :grphug:

Like yourself gangnam (feels weird calling u that! ).. I too am labelled queen of the house. But I always tell them no way i am queen. Queens have their own staff to take care of everything. I don't. :politebleah:

But I do have my little elves. :love: (they like it when i call them so... makes them smile )..

Well, it seems that they can't imagine how Sahms can be doing a lot more then them (ftwps) when they also need to juggle their career and home. Being a sago is seriously not for everyone. I for one, can't be a Sahm. I tried it for a short while, 9 months, and realized that I just couldn't. Part time sahm + part time working ok, but sahp? I got nothing except :salute: for them, especially those with multiple kids :udawoman: :udaman:

Haizzzz. Met an old colleague recently. When hubby jokingly said I'm very busy as a SAHM, she :roll: asked \"what do you HAVE to do at home that's possibly making you busy??? Got things to do meh?\" :mad: :spank:

SAHMs have their own lives too. Though our lives revolve around kids, husbands, housework and keeping stock of everything. Must have stand by for everything like Persil, condensed milk, coffee powder, new underwear, new clothes for CNY etc etc. So anyone who says I am free at home will get it from me.
We do not spend money like water…just came home from shopping…very happy bcos I bought some clothes for kids from a boutique…guess what, they are marked down to just $5 each. It feels great!!!

SAHMs can be happy and contended with simple pleasures.

Hi to all SAHMs


This is the first time I come to this thread. I did not know this thread exists till now, blur me! :oops:

I like what I am reading here. It's great to be able to share and discuss about life as a SAHM. I am a SAHM too and I must say I'm proud to be one.

I can only sing praises of SAHMs. To me, it is also an occupation, one who never knocks off work or go on leave. We are on call for 24 hours a day for 365 days, (well at least to me if not for others) attending to the needs of our DHs, DCs and the house. It is the most important job in the world. Some of us run one-man shows, no helpers at all because we learn to multi-task and are competent.

We may not be leaders in the world but we are in actual fact directors of our home. We are the directors of finances, directors of information and support, directors of nursing and our children's education. SAHMs are also great leaders in leading our children to walk on the right paths and be there for them full time. The most noble thing about SAHMs is we are not paid for our work yet we undertake our tasks with much diligence, dedication and pride. We are long suffering, sacrificing and selfless, always putting our family members above ourselves.

Yes, SAHMs do not bring home the dough, but hey, money isn't everything. A wise woman builds her house and a house filled with mom's presence, love and warmth is worth more than any weight of gold.

So who dare says SAHMs are not cool? We are Directors of the Home and we demand respect too.
