      Precious2.lee:

I engaged Hart Consultancy @ Lucky Plaza. Applied work permit and purchased insurance on my own. Total cost about $1820.

Thank you. So we still need to go thru an agency.

I remember a friend did it on her own (her relative's Filipino maid's contract was ending soon, and she took over), without paying exorbitant fees to maid agencies. I suggest you check with MOM, or any maid agency that you know well.

If the maid is still in Singapore and it's only a matter of employer, the process is straight forward and we can DIY on our own. However if the maid is back in Philippines, that's where the complexity starts. The other time when I checked with MOM, the officer direct me to Philippines Embassy to check on the requirement pertaining to Philippines side. That's where I know only Philippines embassy authorised agent is able to process OWWA etc.. This was about almost a year so you may want to confirm if there's any easier way out but I doubt so. 😞

Try to call philipine embassy. (need a bit of patience, not easy to go through). I called before to direct hire my friend ex-maid 3 years ago. That time they told me if the maid is my ex-maid, process is easier, can go to Singapore philipine embassy to do some document. But if "new" maid (eg. friend’s ex-maid) must go through the agency.

Not sure the ruling got change now or not.

                Hi

Did you successfully hired you FDW on your own?

I am also doing it on my own, and is in the middle of it. The application process on SIN side is straight forward but am still exploring the application on the Philippine side on getting the Oversea Employment certificate for my maid.

Have you any idea? or anyone who have direct hire before?

                      Dear All

I am also trying to do direct hiring of my ex-helper. I called Phil Emb but they say - unless your previous helper was w/ u for 2 full yrs, then u can go direct to them. otherwise, you are not able to DIY, must go thru accredited agencies.

I dun nd my helper to undergo any other training setc but bcos of tat cert, we need to pay exhorbitant prices charged by the agencies?

How can we apply the OEC? Possible? But you will still need the POEA isn’t it?

I tried calling Hart before, though cheapest of all but still I don’t need the rest of the things other than the POEA.

When I called the agent yesterday, they mentioned the cost of S$ 2,300 which is used for the processing on both PH and SG side and air ticket.

Can I check if the employer should bear the cost of the agency fees?

Similar to the hiring of a new maid where they would pay off their loans over a 6-month period, I would imagine that this cost would be borne by the maid (direct hire) as well. Is this not the case?
