Goodness, dd does not lack physical activities. She is in the sch basketball team, training 2x weekly, swimming 2x weekly and everyday evening she will be out cycling or roller blading or waveboarding or playing badminton with her friends for a couple of hours.verykiasumummy:
I am keeping my fingers crossed that DD won't be getting her menses so soon. She is already starting to show signs of puberty and she is standing only at 133cm. DH and I are also not tall so if she can hit 1.6m, we will be ecstatic. haha.
skipping daily and stretching exercises can help...
We kind of ren le. It's the in the genes.
u may try to visit some good tcm, see if tcm has anything to help with that... -
Mamago, if I use pork ribs, I must blanche too. Cannot stand the scum nor the porky smell. I will even rinse the ribs under running water, and wash the stock pot.

ya ya ya... this way will remove the stench... not about wasting nutrients... many impurities are trapped in the surface of the meat and u cant see it....Thanks for sharing, VKmummy. Look at all the 靚湯!
I have something to share, HK obasan boil soups a bit different from the SG mummies.
The different step is called 出水. All meat, poultries and fishes for making soup are to go thru the 出水 step, to \"wash off\" the filthy blood remaining and oil/fats, 肉腥味 and rid of any dirtiness of the sellers' handling.
Boil a pot of water, bring to full boil, drop in the meat/poultries, off the stove, let it steep for 3-5mins depends on the amount of the meat. Discard the water and drain, the meat is now ready for boiling soup.
Take note that this step is almost like blanching, bigger pot of boiling water is better for ridding the filth.
PS. Don't feel \"sayang\" that the meat taste/nutrient will be wasted, (like my MIL claimed) it's this 出水 step that will make your clear soup tastier.
i dun do it for fish, cos i only buy fresh fish for soup, the stench is not as bad..
i use to hv an ionizer at home, if not wrong, from NOP (Number One Product). bought in malaysia many yrs ago till it gave up on me last yr.. once switch on, place the tip into the water as u soak the meat... for around 2 mins, the meat will not have the stench... it is said to produce ions to neutralise bacteria, food smell and impurities...
anyone know of such a product now? -

mawar, u can soak the pork with orange peel or lemon peel, with some salt... it remove the horrible porky smell... i dun like pork too... except for drinking the soup.. -
I don’t think we should put the blame on advertising but rather on parents’ monitoring. Your child can cry, wail and throw tantrums because they want to buy that Happy Meal. But at the end of the day, it really boils down to how often the parents give in to such requests.
It’s all about discipline. -
but how many parents are willing to admit that the power lies in their own hand and not with the advertisers of fast foods?

You mean to say \"effective marketing\" ?

Or rather, \"affective marketing\"
I like to tell the kids - \"Your happy meal is making mummy very unhappy!\"
