Ming, saw older posts on Polaris. Did you managed to register your child with them?

        Hi All,

Just to update that my boy attended both the phonics and HYPY classes in NCPS. Based on his feedback to me, the lessons were fun and he loved especially those tongue-twisters in HYPY class. Did you saw the article on the camp in the Straits Times?

From my observation, I am glad that this was organised. Why? Because he already has a feel of how the classroom was like, how the teacher teaches and interactions with other classmates way before the school starts. I have more confidence in him now on his first day in school.

By the way, have anyone of you received the class ‘posting’ letter and time-table, etc. from NCPS? I have yet. Thanks and keep in touch.

            Hi Meizi,

Nope, have not registered my child with them yet, would like her to first get used to the school environment first.

            Rgds,
            Ming

Hi I sent my girl to both classes too. She came back singing phonic songs and even HYPY also have songs! Can see that she enjoyed alot.
I had intend to put her in the saturday class-Total English. I still wondering whether want put her in the Chinese enrichment.. But i dont wish to pressure her too much.. maybe the english enrichment first..

                  Hi Irene, thanks.

I have registered my boy for both English & Chinese enrichment classes as he loved them. The classes are arranged back-to-back on Saturdays. Its a bit tough but he still have his fair share of play time on Saturday afternoon and the whole of Sunday. So I guess its okay.

So for both classes, the timing will be from 10-11.15am and 11.30-1pm?
I had also checked with the Alumini person in charge, if i want enrol my girl to the chinese enrichment later (as i want see whether she can get used to P1 life before i join the class) the person in charge told me that i must wait till the end of 12 lessons, then i can enrol her in. And they will depend on the vacancy in the classes. They also mentioned, hardly student withdraw from chinese enrichment. Dilema..

I see. That's pretty tricky then. However if your girl parachutes in after the first term (the 12 lessons), it may be difficult to catch up with the class.

But I guess they are in P1 now, still within our means to self-teach (though there's always a limit). If your main concern is for her to enjoy and settle in with her P1's curriculum first, its definitely fine. Need not follow the crowd. Most important is to make learning fun.

Had discussed with my hubby. We prefer just take up the Total English course (as English is still most important language) I will self teach the Chinese, if my girl cannot cope, then i will enrol her into the chinese enrichment. Lift her off some workload first. Let her enjoy her P1..
                        Cheers!!
