Hi, from what I know, String Ensemble will be under Performing Arts CCAs.

This CCA will hv 2-3 times practises each wk.
If yr dd DSA into TKGS, she will likely be put into DSA/ Sports class. Such class will hv different catered timetable esp during competitions. Make-up lessons planned for the missed class lessons. TKGS emphasises on academics, not too worry.
Sch will look at yr dd Pri 5-6 exams results other than her niche in String Ensemble.
      Thanks for the info.

I am actually πŸ˜“ πŸ˜“ πŸ˜“ now. I want to position my P5 for DSA via band in TKGS next year.... I know they are looking at overall 70% passes in year end P5 and P6 mid year. But sometimes their school exam papers is set so high that passing rate is low.... with SA2 now.... I kept telling her that she must sure she pass the hurdle...... Never felt so stressed.

I'm sure if yr dd tries her very best, no sweat for her in her sch exam.
As u mentioned, her Pri sch has a high std, she is being geared for next yr PSLE.
DSA into TKGS....regardless of the 70% passes, just try. No harm.
But don't over pressured her, motivate her instead n let her kn that u are with her to go thr' this hurdle. It's impt.
In fact, TKGS Maths HOD motivates it's girls improved Final Exam Maths result by putting up names of girls on the notice board , who improved by 2 grades n above.
        Small gestures but effective.

Thanks.... I am finally πŸ•Ί dd1 cleared the 70% threshold and probably did around 75% - 77% for full year.... Phew.... πŸ˜“ Now we got to work hard on P6 to make sure her score at least meet TKGS threshold. Hopefully P6 is a gradual progression from P5 for her and she is able to pull up her results further.

How is TKGS EL??? Dd is strong in maths and science. CL is still ok (can do 80) but her EL is the one that is pulling her average down. Need to work on her EL for PSLE... πŸ˜“

It's still early days for dd1 to decide on a sec school but I'm exploring DSA via String Ensemble. I read that TKGS accept DSA via Music so would like to find out more it.

If a student is successful in DSA application via String Ensemble, may I know how many days per wk does the student need to stay back for practise? If there are competitions, will the student miss academic lessons because of practise?

              Thank you.

Do you know, is it a must to take up MEP if successful to DSA via String Ensemble?[/quote]DSA via String Ensemble is different fr Special Prog- MEP.
If successful thr' DSA, yr dd will hv to stay in that CCA for 4 yrs n rep sch for competitions.
MEP is a Special Prog in TKGS. DEP as well.
After a student is posted to TKGS, she can apply for the MEP.
There will be selection test like music & theory audition.
Minimum criteria such as Grade 3 and above in Music is needed if I'm not
                wrong.
Music in TKGS can be taken as O Level subject.

OPEN HOUSE on 17/11. U can check out the vibrant Art Culture in this school.

                    AWARDS FOR TEACHERS

TKGS is proud of its teachers who go the extra mile to ensure that students learn. Amongst the 100 strong teaching force are those who distinguish themselves in the way they lead, care and inspire TKGians. They are Mr Muhammad Ahmad who was one of the recipients of the Inspiring Teacher in English Language Award, Mdm Adela Chee, recipient of Inspiring Chinese Language Teacher Award and Mr Yap Boon Chien, an awardee of this year’s President’s Award for Teachers. Through professional learning communities, these teachers lead others to grow in professional wisdom and expertise.

String ensembles selection also depends on your instrumental competency. There will be stringent audition and interview. What string instrument is your dd learning and what level? My DD got in via string.
