Don't think uniform group would be a recommended or so call spot for talent. The 2nd choice & 3rd choice are recommended meaning high chance the school will take in.

As suggest by QMS, if the ECA you really against of no interest it is best not to put inside the selection list.
YYLazymom, I heard from my girl that Girls' Brigade asked students who were interested in joining to write down their names in a list during the CCA Fair. Did your girl do so since she was interested?
      YYLazymom:
My DD wan to join Girls' Brigade which is not in the list. As a parents of course I'd like her to take Chinese Orchestra, think will help in her DSA ( correct me if im wrong) .
Yes, Chinese Orchestra will help her in her DSA in future. Students in Chinese Orchestra need to meet at least twice a week for practice and more frequently if any competition is round the corner.

On the other hand, uniformed group have meetings on Saturdays (perhaps alternate). Are you aware of this?
      YYLazymom:
My DD choose Girls' Brigade as her 1st choice, which is not in her recommend list, 2nd choice is Chinese Dance (2nd recommended CCA), 3rd is Chinese Orchestra (1st recommended CCA). Do u think any chance for her to get in Girls' Brigade?
Based on the choices, your girl will most likely go to Chinese Orchestra.

By the way which class your gal in this year
      My girl is in 2G.

Hi all, my DS got his cca selection form. Unfortunately, the cca that he wants to choose is not within the recommended list.

Can I check with you, from your experience the previous yrs, how r e chances like to get into his 1st or 2nd choice if they are not within e recommended list?
        Thanks!

One CCA teacher told me that, as long as your child is considered a talent in the a particular CCA, he or she will get in to the CCA even if the CCA is last on the selection.

Hence, if there is any particular CCA that your child feels strongly against joining, but has been identified as a talent, you may like to reconsider including this CCA in one of the three. There is a very high possibility that your child will end up in this CCA.

FYI, my boy got into a CCA that was not in his recommended list (not many, to begin with 😆 ).

Thanks alot! Im glad this forum is available cos we received e forms on Friday, and e deadline to hand in e forms is on Monday. I feel there is insufficient time for us to chk with e teachers after looking at e recommended list, and prob insufficient time for e teachers to respond to e queries.
Anyway, we've decided to choose 3 ccas that are not in his recommended list. Thanks!

Yes she did list down her name there and she say the CCA teacher told her that is she list Girls' Brigade as her 1st choice then she will be selected.

checked from school website aware of that. Think tt is not a issue, wat I concerned is shd I force her choose Chinese Orchestra as her 1st choice then Girls' Brigade? Which is not her fav but she hv talent and more advantages her in DSA or juz go by her wish?

I[color=#0000BF] guess not easy to go DSA by those musical or dance group in my personal view. The school focus the chinese orchestra, dancing & choir a lot in which most of the time they get gold. :rahrah:

Ya in a way if the ECA can help in DSA is good but should not reply on this option. I also have heard that River Valley High take in those can play badminton well at PSLE 200 points. Imagine a huge difference assuming that COP to RVS is 250. Mabe the poor child keep repeating at same level buy play for the school. :lightrod:

I heard that there are a total of 75 girls in the Girls' Brigade. Assume that we divide 75 equally by 4 (from P3-P6), it means, on average, this CCA takes in only about 20 girls per year. I understand that many girls were rejected by Girls' Brigade last year. Going by the popularity of this CCA (perhaps because it's the only uniformed group for girls?), the chance of getting into Girls' Brigade is not that high.

Here's a suggestion. Maybe you can put down Girls Brigade as your girl's first choice, followed by Chinese Orchestra. She will most likely end up in Chinese Orchestra, in my own opinion. This outcome is beyond your control. You respect your girl's wish by allowing her to indicate Girls' Brigade as her first choice. So, in a way, it is not considered as forcing her to join Chinese Orchestra against her wish, right, since strictly speaking, the school decides on the allocation.

On the other hand, if she is \"fated\" to join Girls' Brigade, just let her be. There are other things in life to consider besides DSA.

(Oh! Another thing. Don't :torchme: if she eventually gets into Girls' Brigade, ok? 🦆 :siam: )

                  Just my two cents.

If you feel very strongly about Chinese Orchestra, explain to her. I am sure she will understand.

Best let the child decides on its own. By putting Chinese Orchestra as 2nd choice & it Girl Brigade no chance get in, very likely she would kanna Chinese Orchestra. This ECA would follow them in the next 4 yours so consider make your choice wisely. :gloomy:

Maybe you may want to check with the teacher in charge of Girls Brigade if demand > supply would it be a balloting? 🤷

my DS said he is in 5A2 next year. FT told the class the class is randomly spilt into 5M and 5A2. Anyone noe the real reason or is this the real reason?

His result is not that bad this year…all within the range of band 1…wonder why the spilt. Frankly, i m upset if he is not in the best class…
