Do you let your child go to/from school on their own?

If you have a car, then try to ferry then to & fro from school which is the best option.

If not then it would be school bus. But sch bus fee keep on increasing, very fustrated even during school holiday also must pay school fees. (Jun & Dec). In additon, if the child is in the moring session, sometime like 6.20am have to wait for the school bus.

Therefore availability of public transport is rather impostant. At least they take SBS Buses is much cheaper comapre on pte cars driving & also using school buses.

I recently met a little girl on a bus while she is on her way to school. She is only in primary 2 and she travel to school by herself on public buses. I was quite amazed, because I don’t usually see such a small kid travel on public transport by themselves.

I drive both of my kids to & from school every day. My daughter is about 20 minutes away from home & my son is less than 5 minutes drive. I intend to have my daughter to take public bus next year if she has ECA to attend in the afternoon. She will be in P4 by then. My son, although it is very near, I will still be fetching & sending him until he is P6. I just dont want him to be recruited by bad company. Not sure if things like that are still prevalent. I know during my growing up year, it is quite common. Now not very sure but it pays to be safe than sorry.

I have a primary school just walking distance from my home, but need to cross an unbusy street.


I have another primary school (of my choice) 1 MRT station away from our house. We might be putting boy at this nearby school which is near so as to save those undue worries about child crossing road.

If it's neighbouring school, then I will let him cross the road when he starts primary 1 at 7. Still pending for Daddy's approval, though.

No, my son is 3 years old and go to preschool with the preschool bus. As it is provided by preschool and it is safe for kids. Parents must ensure kids' safety before sending them to any preschool. http://www.callingallkidsagain.com/ ensures kids' safety very well on the bus as well as at the preschool.

I Guess generally school provided bus services should be ok normally I see plenty of helpers waiting for the kids as well

We started them at P3 cos there were traffic lights n sch was just 15 min away. Later change sch, we let the boys take public bus back home at P4 level. So far nothing major happens, except one kid overslept his stop ! but he figured his way to cross the road ( long way) and came back half an hour late. Nowadays I send them (P5 &4 now) out to NTUC or hawker centers to buy back food/groceries on some weekends. They will come back like 20-45 mins. Phones are compulsory of cos.
