All About Life Without Maids
-
Have been following this thread. Now, I want to update my experience here. Had an Indo maid for 7 months exactly before releasing her back to agent 3 months back. Currently two sons age 2Y4M and 8M. Life is happier and manageable. My hubby travels frequently and I can juggle two sons on my own. Both my sons go to the CC. Everyday after work, I will pick them up, go home throw the bags down and dump the soiled cloth into pail, wash milk bottles, prepare cc wear, waterbottle and breastfeeding accessories for next day. Bought a dryer, every 2 or 3 day I will wash the laundry for the small ones or adults. Then keep in the cupboard neatly. We order dinner tingkat. Everyday, we complete all the tasks and settle down latest 830pm including ahower, washing up dishes, clean up dinning area, cut fruits.... Then I will play with them and watch tv while waiting for the cloth to spin dry. Still have spare time to clean the floor if needed. My experience, things have to be really systematic. Everybody including my husband in the house will play their role which is not to mess up the house.
I will also throw in thawed frozen food for my small one together with our rice in the rice cooker. Add water and puree for him to eat together during dinner. I will freeze sweet potatoe, pumpkin, brocoli... as I type this, my small one sits on my lap watching nursery songs on tv and grumbling with fever....haha So far, everything is organised, easy access, and this cut down alot of frustration . I cannot say my house is neat and speck. Too much toys... books.... haiz -

Hi mummies, those who are using irobot, is it true that the Roomba will not resume its cleaning if it runs out of batt and goes back to its base to recharge? And unlike the Neato, the Roomba can’t clean the corners effectively becos it is round?
Would like to find out more as I’m considering getting the roomba or the neato… -
Hi Angelight, I have a Roomba. Its not good with corners, but does great with edges. It has a protruding side brush that protrudes and spins, which cleans along edges very well. I don’t know if it will resume cleaning after re-charging… I don’t think it will… But I don’t know, the situation of running out of battery before it finishes cleaning hasn’t happened to me yet. Does a way better job that my conventional vacuum cleaner which can’t clean along edges. I like it.

Need to ask - those of you using Magic Clean paper tissue to clean the floor: do you try other brands? Any feedback?
I have tried several brands (of course these brands are cheaper than magic Clean ones) but still find that magic clean is the best. -
Imami,
I used to buy NTUC Homeproud brand… quite good… but now they no longer have it… till date… have not found a cheaper one and good one like homeproud brand. -
Thanks for your sharing.
I also read somewhere that the roomba cleans randomly, so there might be some areas it may miss. Do you feel your floors are much cleaner after it's done its job, or not much diff?
I want to get some feedback from real users cos this is quite a big investment for our family (a robot cleaner costs so much more than a conventional one), and I want to make sure it's worth buying.
Btw, does your roomba consume alot of electricity? Do you have to leave its power on all the time, and how often do you charge it?Xiaodingdang@Work:

There are those value shops that sell such wet wipes (can't remember the brand) and each pack of 20 pcs only costs $1.20-$1.50. I have used the Magic Clean ones but find them too ex and wasteful to use cos it's just use and throw.
Btw, any mummies here clean windows yourself? What do you use to clean your windows effectively?Imami:

Those cannot make it… I don’t like them.
I clean the windows myself. I just use glass cleaner spray (diluted) and a dust cloth. A cleaner aunty taught me. Very easy, fast and cheap! Newspaper can also achieve the same result as dust cloth but your hands will end up badly stained by the ink.
